I do mostly pocket-page scrapbooking these days a la PROJECT LIFE so I’d love to get both of these magazines. Wish I had $30 lying around, LOL. Remember the “old days” of scrapbooking magazines coming in the mail and curling up on the couch with a cup of coffee or tea, just immersing yourself in the ideas and pretty pictures? Ah, the good times . . .
Although not able to get these magazines myself, I can give a good review for Scrap & Paper Shop. About 6 months ago, I bought THIS older Lisa Bearnson book from them called “50 Moments.” They had the best price by far anywhere online, the shipping was very reasonable, and it arrived quickly.
I hope if you’re a pocket-page scrapper like me, or just curious about it, you’re able to check out these cool mags :)
October Afternoon has . . . made a small mention of a new line? And, whoomp, there it is! Right HERE on their website. For realies. See? Here is one of the papers:
So, first things first, go check out the new line called “Saturday Mornings” – which I think is super cute but not really useable for me (thank GOD! because I have enough OA to choke a horse). Then come back so we can talk about this, mmmm kay?
(Scrapbook Obsession drinks some coffee . . . )
(Scrapbook Obsession Pins some layouts . . . )
(Scrapbook Obsession gets more coffee . . .)
OKAY, you’re back! What did you think? I *do* love the chair paper with a great name (“Coffee”, which I seem to be quite partial to).
In OA’s inimitable style, they didn’t really announce this new line. Apparently, it was mentioned in a customer email – there will be a sampling of the line in the OA Santa Sack #4. But there’s no mention on their blog, Facebook page, etc. Yet there is the entire line on their website. That’s OA, re-writing ALL the rules about product merchandising, sales, and distribution, LOL. Gotta’ love ’em.
But the important thing is – what to you think? You likee?
ETA 12-15-14: I just found the contents of the email posted online. Here is what OA said:
Here we are at Week Four of October Afternoon’s Santa Sack Sale!
Get over $100 retail value of merchandise for the bargain price of just $39.99 plus shipping.
This week’s Santa Sack is extra special! This week, we are including a fun sampling of products from October Afternoon’s brand-new Saturday Mornings™ collection. This collection is shipping to stores now!
Of course, this Santa Sack also contains many other products from a variety of October Afternoon lines. As usual, there will be no duplicates from any other weeks!
Come and check it out on our BLOG starting at NOON (Central Standard Time) TODAY!
I made sure to specify “core kit” in the title of this post because I didn’t want you to get the wrong kind of twitterpated!
Many scrappers, including myself, saw Becky’s blog post and thought, “Whoo hoo! There’s now a desktop edition of the the Project Life app!” Yeah, well, NO. It’s not a desktop edition of her popular app, it’s a new Project Life core kit called “Desktop Edition.”
I for one am always happy to see a new core kit so I’m not gonna’ complain too loudly but, sure, a “desktop edition” of the app would sure be handy, Miss Becky! In the meantime, I’ll console myself looking at your purdy new kit :)
You can get the kit from Becky’s online store HERE. It’s funny – to me, this image on her website doesn’t look much like the actual kit from the other photos:
Here’s the description from BH.com:
The office meets Project Life in the Desktop Edition! You’ll find classic colors, pencils, pens, and globes along with florals and graphic patterns to round out this collection designed by Tiffani Smith.
And from Becky’s blog:
. . . filled with fun graphics — pens, books, and other office supplies while being sprinkled with florals and bold graphics. The color palette is rich, warm, and sure to be a favorite. This new edition includes a Core Kit, Designer Album, 6×6 Paper Pad, Photo Overlays, Stickers, and Embossing Folders.
Yep, STICKERS! That’s new, right?
Love the hearts and paperclips <3
These are just a few of the kit images. There are more on Becky’s blog entry linked above. On the one hand, I really like this new Project Life Core Kit. It’s a fun theme, very versatile, would be fun to use in a scrapbook-y planner, and has some fresh images. On the other hand, I’m more a silver girl than gold (and kind of burnt out on all the gold in Scrapbook Land anyway). The gold overlays are a NO especially.
If the stickers are sold separately somewhere, I’ll probably buy those. And I’ll hope to find a partial kit to buy some of the cards – or buy the whole core kit myself and sell off 2/3 or 3/4 of the cards. Heads up: If you LOVE the gold cards, hit me up, LOL.
PS: If you haven’t seen this “I Am Project Life” video yet, check it out. I gotta’ admit, it made me a little bit weepy. Sniffle.
But here’s the thing: While “The Avalon Ladies Scrapbooking Society” was about – OBVEE! – scrapbooking, the novel “Friendship Bread” which pre-dated and set up the characaters for it, wasn’t. Now there’s another “Avalon” book and I don’t know, therefore, whether it’ll be scrapbook-related or not. I skimmed the Amazon page description, reviews, etc. and still cannot tell.
Either way, for free and because I enjoy this author, I’m giving it a try. We’re expecting a big storm this weekend. Sounds like the perfect time to curl up with some vanilla coffee and a sweet new book. If you’d like to do the same, you can get the book HERE. And, remember, you don’t need a Kindle to read a Kindle book!
ETA 12-15-14: I wrote to ask the author, Darien, if there was any scrapbooking included in her new book. Here is her reply: “An Avalon Christmas doesn’t have scrapbooking in it but there are a few familiar characters you’ll probably recognize! Happy holidays to you and your readers!” I’ve started reading Avalon Christmas anyway and it seems to be a book of short stories. I don’t know if all the stories will tie together at the end or remain separate but they’re nice stories either way. I like to read happy, encouraging stuff this time of year and that’s how this book has been so I recommend it :)
Create and Craft.tv has existed in the UK but is launching TODAY in the USA as Create and Craft.com!
I heard about it some time ago and signed up for their mailing list for the launch, but wasn’t really sure what I was looking forward to :) I watched the initial show today at 12pm PST and am very excited now! It’s basically like watching HSN or QVC craft shows, like, 24/7. HOLLAH!
From what I can tell so far, there will be 15-minute demos of scrapbooking and crafting products, both live and recorded. There is a PROGRAM GUIDE so you can see what’s coming up, even sorting by your time zone. Apparently, there’s a way to set alarms for the shows you want to watch but I haven’t figured that out yet (if you do, clue me in please!). There’s also something called 7-DAY CATCH UP which seems to be a carousel of past “shows” you can watch. The HOSTS appear to be mainly Brits and an American you may recognize, Jinger Adams of Just Jinger and Cricut fame. They even have a US DESIGN TEAM.
In addition to the videos, you can SHOP at Create and Craft TV! They have everything organized by type of craft (including Papercraft) and I saw brands like Basic Grey, WRMK, American Crafts, Chickaniddy Crafts, Simple Stories, etc. In my quick skim through the products, there seems to be a pretty good variety already and the prices appear to be in line with MSRP.
I do like how they do their product listings. Check out this listing for Doodlebug “Love Always” washi tape. Along the left side, they show other Doodlebug washi tapes. Wicked smart . . . and very convenient.
If you join Create and Craft TV’s free membership, you can access things like The Hub with their social media postings, access to more videos, the blog, and Exclusives which are coupon codes and sales.
They have regular PROMOTIONS like Pick of the Week, Weekender, 4-Day Deal, etc. In addition, they have Flex Pay and shipping is Flat Rate $6.95 (with some exceptions). All their SHIPPING info sounds pretty standard.
Starting on 12-29-14, Create and Craft TV will be partnering with Joann craft stores and presenting deals from them every day at noon!
So, my first impressions of Create and Craft.com:
1. Light, bright, easy to navigate website
2. Very nicly produced videos with fun, enthusiastic hosts – maybe a little TOO enthusiastic but it is exciting being the first day and all
3. Lots of lovely British accents that I love (even several men!), including “em” instead of our ugly American “um”, LOL
4. Wide variety of craft products – I already have an idea for my first order!
Hint:
I’m so grateful to have another outlet for my Scrapbook Obsession. I work from home and have a new group of crafty peeps to keep me company while I work. I hope you check out and support Create and Craft.com! Let me know what you think :)
In THIS post, you were offered 2 chances for a prize and now it’s time to see if you won!
The winner of THIS . . .
. . . is Teri!!!!
Teri Pannesi
NOV 21, 2014 @ 11:14:46
I have this book on my wishlist on amazon!!! I love her books!
It’s funny that scrapbooking is our obsession and thankfully since I can’t scrapbook in bed (yes, I’ve tried) I can instead read about scrapbooking!!!
Yes, I put 20 numbers into Random.org and he (or she?) picked number 1.
Congratulations Teri! I hope you enjoy the book.
Thank you to author Laura Childs for providing a free copy of her book for this giveaway. If you’d like to buy the book, you can find it HERE.
As for the scrappy prize – first of all, thank you SO much for all the kind and helpful and constructive comments about Scrapbook Obsession Blog. I really, truly appreciate your input and will take all of your suggestions to heart. I want this to be a place YOU feel at home, and where YOU want to read and comment and hang out. So THANK YOU.
The winner of the scrappy prize is . . . Nadine!!
Nadine Palmer
NOV 23, 2014 @ 21:24:40
I have never read a scrapbooking novel, but I love mysteries, so Laura’s book would address my three addictions – reading, preserving memories while being creative, and enjoying a whodunit!
And now on to your other questions . . .
1. I love the redesign of the blog. As other readers have shared, the type size is superb. I don’t mind the white at all. It reminds me of a just painted white picket fence! Pops of color would be nice at times, but the white color to me is very clean and calming.
2. I just started reading your blog in January of 2014, and off the top of my head, I don’t know where I discovered you! I love all you do, but I especially appreciate your posts about HSN scrapbooking shows. I used to get reminders from HSN but they haven’t been coming through lately. I usually buy a few items but mostly enjoy listening and watching all things scrappy. I tell my husband and daughters it is my time to relax and have fun!
3. As another reader said, it would be neat to see some tutorials or project sheets on the blog. However, there is a ton of that type of scrapbooking stuff on the web and what you bring to the table is your unique sense of humor and information on so many other aspects of the industry. I would be interested in your recommendations on where we can find cool projects, etc. I am a “mini album junkie” and any new takes on them would be fun to read as well.
Thanks for asking for our opinions and ideas!
It was so hard to choose from all the great comments – thank you ALL again.
Teri and Nadine, please send me your mailing address and I’ll get your prizes out soon! Also, Nadine if you could please send me a little idea of your scrapbooking tastes so I can send you a prize you’ll like (e.g., family, boys, travel, blues and greens, Christmas, Project Life, etc.) Thanks! scrapbookobsession(at)gmail(dot)com

Lain has a a few exciting things on offer right now.
1. Her FREE December scrapinar happening 12-09-14 which you can sign up for right here. As with all of her free scrapinars, if you’re not available to watch it live, you get a free replay – but you MUST sign up ahead of time. Later, she sells these for cash-money so it really doesn’t make sense to NOT sign up. Know what I mean, Vern? And Layle Koncar from SIMPLE STORIES is always a hoot!
2. Every year, Lain has the “12 Deals of Christmas” which she posts/sends out once per day December 1-12 at noon EST. If you’re impatient like me, you can view the entire list HERE and maybe jot down on your calendar which deal(s) you’re doing to jump on. There are a limited number of each thing so you have to be quick or miss out. I like to support this event of Lain’s specifically because of this:
10 percent of your purchase price goes to the Aasha Foundation. The Aasha Foundation provides comprehensive social, recreational and educational enrichment support for 35 girls residing at a shelter home for girls in Mumbai, India.
For years, I’ve wanted to incorporate my faith more into my scrapbooking but have never followed through. I just feel like our faith, whatever form it takes, is SO important to who we are and what we should document about ourselves. I’m very excited about this and will definitely be signing up!
Gosh, where should I start? The only scrappy shopping I did for the “Black Friday weekend” was at Michaels and it was mostly for necessities like albums to hold pocket pages and storage items. Now it’s time to have some fun! Let me know how you make out and if you need someone to talk you down from a purchase . . . erm . . . don’t call me! Hee heeeeeeee!!!
I’ve already posted about these classes HERE and HERE. But just in case you got busy with Thanksgiving and forgot to shop – I wanted to remind you that there are about 6 hours left. You can view and buy the classes HERE.
I loved this e-mail Lain sent out today and thought I’d share it:
53,119 pins.
126,174 Pinterest followers.
Impressed yet?
Obviously, there’s no one better than Kelli Crowe to teach a class
on turning Pinterest inspiration into actual scrapbook pages and
craft projects! That’s why when Kelli taught this class on “Saw
This, Made That: Bringing Inspiration to Life” for True Scrap 6,
the room was packed and the ideas were flying!
Let’s face it. We all pin and pin and pin (or bookmark blog posts,
“favorite” layouts in galleries, or otherwise collect visual
inspiration). But often, our OUTPUT doesn’t come close to equaling
our INPUT. And that’s why you’re gonna love Kelli’s class. And
you’re going to love it even more because it’s on sale through
tomorrow, 11/30!
You can get the 32-minute project-only video, a full replay of the
class including chat and Q&A with Kelli, AND a PDF of the class
chat for only $9.99, through this weekend only.
Kelli’s class is just one of **NINE** hour-long video classes from
True Scrap 6, all of which are on sale through Sunday, Nov. 30.
Shop early before the price increases!
Big <3
Lain
P.S. Kelli is an incredible scrapbooker and one of the most
creative people I know. Check out her class, and if you don't love
it, we'll refund your purchase price! With that kind of guarantee,
you can't lose. Get "Saw This, Made That" right now:
I love how Lain gives a money-back guarantee. I think she’s pretty confident you’ll love whatever classes you get. And, ya’ know, if you don’t – no harm, no foul. Just get your money back and spend it something else scrappy! Whoo hoo!
Here are the True Scrap 6 classes you have to choose from for $9.99 each for 6 more hours (then $14.99) or get all 9 classes for $74:
Hope you have a lovely long weekend and holiday. Now buy your TRUE SCRAP CLASSES and get to bed! You have to get up early tomorrow ;)
Hiya, Scrappy Shoppers! Around Thanksgiving is one of the best times of the year to shop. Here is why:
1. Christmas is coming and you know you can’t trust anyone to buy you exactly the scrapbook items you want.
2. SALES!!
You can get crazy-good deals and I’m going to help you. Here’s a list of online and big box scrapbooking, stamping, and craft sales. Please check back often ‘cuz I’ll add and update new deals as I find them.
There are other sales I heard about but didn’t list because I went to the site and could find NO evidence of a sale. Note to stores: If you’re going to have a sale, for gosh sakes, don’t make me hunt all over your site for it! I even tried the Search box on a few of them and typing in Black Friday brought up nada. Silly, silly rabbits . . .
If you know of other deals, please share them in Comments! And, more importantly, let me know what you (or Santa) bought! And, like I said, stay tuned because I’ll be adding to this list in coming days . . .
As I posted about HERE, I ordered the Project Life “My Story” kit from HSN on their last scrapbooking day. It finally arrived last week!
Here’s the cover to the album . . . obvi! I really like the shades of green and the clean design. I think it will be timeless and not look dated when I’m old and gray :)
This is the front and back of the package insert so you can see a bit more of what the pages look like.
Here’s the opening page and you can see all the tab dividers along the right side.
This is a closer look at the tabs. Can you see how some of them are already crumpled? The cardstock that the pages and dividers are made from are the same weight (instead of the dividers being of a heavier weight) which is like a heavy cardstock but certainly not a chipboard, not even a thin one. You never know, heavier cardstock could’ve made the book so thick and heavy, it wasn’t useable so I’m fine with this. I’ll probably find a way to reinforce or replace the tab dividers. I do love all the topics it comes with and how the album flows so well.
These are samples of two of the page spreads.
And, finally, the closing page about your will and final wishes. In other words, “You can go to sleep. You are dead now, Scrappy.” You can also see the {10} divided page protectors that came with this album kit from HSN.
Overall, I’m very happy with the Project Life “My Story” kit. The price from HSN was cheaper than buying all the items separately so it was priced well. The colors and theme of the album are very clean, user friendly, and won’t distract from all the handwriting to be included. They are simple and should be fun to embellish a bit. I’m thinking “WASHI!” How about you?
The most impressive thing about this album is the huge array of topics covered and questions asked. When completed, it really will be your life story from start to finish. There may be pages here and there that don’t apply to everyone – for instance, I’m putting aside the page about ‘my grandchildren’ since I don’t have any yet – but for the most part, very useable and universal.
Becky Higgins does it again. I can’t wait to get started.
A little birdie told me that “TRUE SCRAP 6” classes will be available for individual purchase starting Wednesday, 11-26-14! I can’t give you a link yet but stay tuned to this blog because I’ll post it as soon as it’s allowed. I know a lot of you are patiently waiting :)
Tip: If don’t want to miss it – or any of the other scintillating super scrappy news I share – just sign up for my mailing list over there in the right sidebar -> You’ll get an e-mail every time I post.
The “True Scrap 6” individual classes include both the project-only video (around 30 minutes) and the full, “Like You Were There” video (around 60 minutes). They will be “Black Friday” priced at only $9.99 each (regularly $14.99) or get the whole True Scrap 6 event including make-n-takes for only $74 ($8.22) each.
In December 2014, Lain also has her “12 Deals of Christmas” coming ANNNNNDDD . . . registration starts for Truth Scrap, a 1-day faith-based True Scrap experience on Jan. 31. With instructors like Stephanie Ackerman, Erin Bassett, Shanna Noel and more, it’s going to help crafters infuse their spirituality into their art. More info coming soon!
AMERICAN CRAFTS is hiring a SCRAPBOOKER/CRAFTER. Yep, you read that right. They’re going to pay someone $28-33K per year plus benefits to scrapbook!
Just think of all the pretty paper and rad embellishments you’d get PAID to play with! The American Crafts umbrella covers: AC (incl. Amy Tangerine, Shimelle, and Dear Lizzy), Pebbles, Crate Paper, Studio Calico, Imaginisce, Pink Paislee, Heidi Swapp, Bazzill, We R Memory Keepers and Project Life products.
Imagine, if you will, this future conversation:
Your boss: “Oh, hello there. Could I please pay you to make something scrappy from these gorgeous Solstice Puffy Stickers?
You: “Uh, sure. Well, I mean, how much are they?”
Your boss: “No, silly! We just give them to you – and lots of other products. And you make cool projects with them which we share with the world and you become a famous scrapper. It’s all free. Plus we pay you. Is that okay?”
You: . . . . . . . . “Am I being Punked?! Where are the cameras?? Ashtonnnnn!”
If I got this job, I would never want to leave work! The after-hours paper sniffing alone would cut into my family time. Then hubby would get mad because his dinner was late and the kids would fail school because I’d be too busy sniffing scrapbook paper to help with their homework. They’d get kicked off their sports teams for missing practices because “Mommy got home really late from work. Again.”
Yeah, so. Darn. Guess I won’t be applying for this amazing dream job. I’m not willing to sacrifice my family. Plus it’s in Utah which is not where I live. And they have snow there, right? I’m not sure even THIS job is worth dealing with snow. Said the California beach girl.
But I think YOU should apply. You know you want to! Just go HERE. Deadline is . . . well, I can’t find a deadline so get your bottom over there and apply before you miss out! It was posted 10-28-14 so hurry!
Now if they ever need a work-from-home, scrapbooking fanatic blogger, social media freak, SEO expert who would promote their goodies and talk about their scrapbooking products TWENTY FOUR SEVEN, well, then I’m their girl!
1. I haven’t pulled the trigger (yet?) but the deal today at CraftySteals.com is surely trying my resolve. Check this out:
Tons of October Afternoon “Public Library” for only $23. Aye yie yie . . . I want it SO bad! But I’m telling myself that I really don’t need the entire line, just several sheets of that gorgeous paper and an embellishment or two. Praying for strength, LOL.
2. Reminder that Lain’s Free Scrapinar for November is today, Monday 11-03-14 @ 10am Pacific, 1pm Eastern.
Just click here to see the details and sign up. Maybe we’ll bump into each other in the chat room :)
Hope I made your Monday a little brighter!
PS: If you’re reading this directly from my blog, sorry for the different look. I’m doing some remodeling as I have time between work and family. There will be other changes before I’m done so thank you for your patience.
During the last HSN Scrapbooking day, the only thing I ended up ordering was the Project Life “My Story” album kit:
It was about $30 with shipping and here is what’s in the kit:
Project Life My Story Kit with Album and Photo Sleeves
What’s your story? Document anything and everything in this My Story kit from Project Life. Filled with prompts to help you remember various important milestones and times in your life, this album is the perfect gift for just about anyone. Your legacy. Your story. Your life.
What You Get
6″ x 8″ Album
61 Pages of prompts to record your life story
12 Photo pocket pages
11 Dividers
Since then, I’ve seen that you can get JUST the pages on Becky’s site for $14.99:
You don’t get the album or the page protectors like with the HSN kit but you can order those separately on BH.com. I guess it was a good deal on HSN. Via BH.com, you’d pay $15 kit + $5 page protectors + $15 album = $35 (vs. the $25 I paid on HSN).
I didn’t know when I ordered the Project Life “My Story” kit from HSN.com that there would be such a delay before it shipped! It’s been over 3 week since I ordered it. I feel kind of misled about that because they sure didn’t make it clear in the presentation – like, “Hey, order now but be aware that these kits haven’t arrived at HSN yet so there will be a delay in shipping them.”
I still probably would’ve placed the order – but I’d like to have the choice, ya know? On the one hand, I’ve had a problem with the quality of one of the PL 6×8 albums; the metal spine came loose on one end and I don’t think it’s fixable. Also, I already have some Sn@p 6×8 albums and page protectors that I could probably use with this kit. On the other hand, I like that the album is specific to this project, with the “My Story” title and I like the design and colors.
Anyway, I’ll let you know when it arrives and I’ll post some photos. I’m very excited to get this kit and get started! It’ll probably take me forever to complete, LOL. But my goal is work on it during the winter and holidays when work slows down a bit, if we travel and I have “car time”, and during some cold winter days when I’m stuck inside :)
I think it’ll mainly be handwritten journaling and probably some research on dates and such. I’m lucky my mom is still around to help me :) I’m not sure about including photos in it – if I do, I’ll probably use copies, maybe even keep them all black and white so there’s a cohesive look to it and then I can embellish things a bit.
We’ll see when it gets here! Did you order this album? If you’ve received it already, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
I heard on the 2 Peas Refugees board that Walmart is now carrying We R Memory Keepers (WRMK) divided page protectors and “Project Life” style card sets! Here’s a photo provided by ~KatieAnna~ (I don’t see a link to her blog, Pinterest, etc or I’d share it here):
Isn’t that cool!?! She thinks the page protector packs were $3.97 and card sets were $4.97. I haven’t been to Walmart yet to see these for myself and confirm that price, but as soon as I do, I’ll let you know.
Or if YOU have seen any WRMK items at Walmart, please leave a comment below! I’d love to know which card sets they have and also how widely Walmart is carrying these items.
Unfortunately, they don’t appear to be carrying the WRMK albums but maybe they will in the future. You can also find those at Target for only $20.
I just heard from a scrappy friend in Southern Cal that her Tuesday Morning has a BUNCH of BASIC GREY! Lots of embellishments: brads, ephemera, toothpick flags, resins, stamp stickers, die cuts, journal pads, etc. Most are 99 cents. No paper though, boo! I haven’t bought much BG lately (most of my scrappy dough has been going to AMERICAN CRAFTS paper, storage items, and WRMK albums) – so now I have to make ANOTHER trip to Tuesday AM, darn! ;)
Sorry, I don’t have any photos of the Basic Grey to share but it reminded me that I never posted all these Tuesday Morning scrappy pics I took last month.
GLITTER, GLITTER GLUE, and PENS
TIM HOLTZ and 7 GYPSIES
SCRAPPY STORAGE BOXES
EMBELLIES plus that cute little HEART BURLAP BOX caught my eye
STICKERS and EMBELLISHMENTS
SO MUCH PAPER that it was overwhelming. I couldn’t even look at it all!
PAGE PROTECTORS and ALBUMS
STUDIO CALICO and PEBBLES
Don’t forget to look on the top shelf – all that PAPER and CARDSTOCK!
Look in the other craft-y areas too. There are scrapbooking items mixed in.
Great price on a set of WRMK PUNCHES
The glare is terrible but those are American Crafts Flutterbys on the top left.
Great items for SCRAPBOOK STORAGE
Be careful. Lots of crooked embellishments! I wanted those wine ones but they were horrible! :(
MORE STUFF
And, just for my Peep friends, BIRDY BLANKETS!
I have even MORE photos from Tuesday Morning from a more recent visit to their scrapbook section. I need to get them uploaded, then I’ll blog those too so stay tuned! Remember when I said that Tuesday Morning had a NEW CRAFTS BUYER? Well, I’d say she’s doing a great job, wouldn’t you?
A couple of months ago, I found a great deal on these Cropper Hopper Sticker Envelopes.
As you can see, they were normally $6.99 marked down to $1.50 so I did what any bargain-lovin’ scrapper would do: I bought them all! There were 10 packages so I got 30 Sticker Envelopes for $15 (instead of $70 at full price). WAHOO!!
They sat in my scraproom for a while because I wasn’t sure how I wanted to use them. I guess they’re intended to just store stickers, maybe by topic? But that ain’t how I roll, baby.
I thought about making up kits with them. You know, pull all the paper, stickers, alphas, embellishments, and photos for a single project. But in the end, I decided to use them for storing a whole collection.
In this case, I stored all the October Afternoon “Apple Cider” collection that I talked about HERE.
This is what it looks like from one side:
And here is the other side:
All of the 12×12 papers are in the large inside pocket. The stickers and embellishments fit so nicely in the outside pockets. I’ll put a label on that top tab. {For everything in my scrap space, I used an older version of this Brother P-touch Labeler – it’s perfect!}
I love that I can see the whole collection at a glance. I also love that these pockets fit inside my Cropper Hopper paper holders, which I sort by manufacturer. So of course this Sticker Envelope goes into the October Afternoon paper holder. I use an older version of these Cropper Hopper Paper Holders.
Like I said, I store most of my scrapbook stuff by manufacturer. For some lines, I just have paper but for others I have paper + embellishments. I’ll be going through my CH paper holders and transferring those full collections into these. It’ll be great to just grab a Sticker Envelope and get to work :)
I don’t belong to a scrapbook kit club anymore but if I did, I’d use these Sticker Envelopes to store new kits when they arrived. It would be helpful in “killing a kit” I would think. You could see each little piece and more likely use it. Then when most of the kit had been used, you could separate the items into your regular storage methods. “Oh no! The Sticker Envelope is empty! Whatever will I do?! Ah, time to buy a new kit!” Heh.
I got these Sticker Envelopes at Beverly’s Crafts. If you’re in California, you can check HERE to see if there’s a store near you. Maybe your store will have them, too. In mine, they weren’t in Scrapbooking but were in the big Clearance section.
What do you think? How do you store your collections? Do you keep them together or separate them out into other categories? Would love to hear your method!
If you were drooling over the great October Afternoon deal I got HERE, you might want to check THIS out! ScrapbookSteals.com has another OA deal today, this time with their EGGNOG COLLECTION KIT.
I am broke, baby! But if you’re so inclined, go take advantage of that deal before it sells out! Seems like a lot of fun to scrap the holidays with – maybe even do your whole December Daily with it?
I also just heard about a free scrapbooking class that I *NEED* to take and I’ll bet you do, too: “SCRAPBOOKING YOUR BABY’S FIRST YEAR” with Nicole Samuels. {If you’re one of those annoying scrappers who already has all their children’s first year of life documented from first cry to first birthday, gah! Just move along. I mean, really?!?}
I can’t find a photo/ad to copy over but this is the text from the class description:
document the magical moments.
In the flurry of adjusting to life with a new baby, it can be tempting to shelve your scrapbooking plans and leave your photographs in their digital formats. But those moments only happen once! Learn a system for getting those memories down and creating a scrapbook you’ll cherish for a lifetime.
Scrapbooking Your Baby’s First Year with Nicole Samuels will help you sift through the photos, moments, and memories and decide which ones belong in your memory books. You’ll learn how to use Studio Calico kits and products to create clean, modern scrapbook layouts that highlight the milestones and relationships that emerge in your baby’s first year. Nicole will show you how to create scrapbooks that both focus on the big events, like sitting up, and the unique ones that simply mean a lot to your family.
Time is fleeting and precious, don’t let the first year of the important child in your life go unaccounted for. Develop a system for documenting those magical moments in Scrapbooking Your Baby’s First Year.
If you click over at the link above, you can watch an intro video, too. The class is being broadcast for FREE on 10-30-14 by CREATIVE LIVE; they do tons of free and paid classes that are absolutely top-quality. You should check them out if you haven’t already. {I posted HERE about classes by scrappers Lain Ehmann and Becky Higgins in the past}. If you miss the live broadcast – and the free re-broadcast they usually do immediately following the live one – or you love Nicole’s class so much you want to buy it, it’s only $29.
Speaking of Becky, I see in the class schedule that Nicole is going to Skype with BECKY HIGGINS and ALI EDWARDS, two of my favorite scrappers! If nothing else, go RSVP for the free class so you can get a Studio Calico coupon. When you sign up, you’ll also be notified in the future when this “Scrapbooking Baby’s First Year” class will be re-broadcast again for free.
Man, I need this class! I have children who are well past babies and (gulp!) no baby books! I’ve even purchased the awesome PROJECT LIFE BABY KITS kits from Becky and gathered all the photos and memorabilia into one place. I just haven’t sat down and gotten started. I really wish I would’ve done it sooner but, hey, what’re ya’ gonna’ do? I’ll be watching this free class to get my bottom in gear, maybe even buy it afterward so I can keep getting kicked in the pants to do this super-important project.
Okay, there. I’ve saved you tons of money. What more do you want from me?!?! Have a lovely day.
One way I’ve gotten such a great selection of Project Life cards is by buying partial sets from other scrappers. The Core Kits come with a total of 616 cards which includes a LOT of duplicates and who can really use that many, kwim?
When the Heidi Swapp “Dreamy” PL core kit came out, I couldn’t wait to find a partial kit to go on sale and had to just buy it for myself, LOL! But I don’t need the whole thing and would love to sell some of it.
It’s absolutely beautiful, as you can see below, especially if you love that watercolor look that’s so popular in scrapbooking right now.
I snagged these images from a website but these are the same cards I’m selling :) They’re even more delicious in person.
You get approximately 1/3 of the total HS Dreamy kit:
(30) 4×6 cards including some that can fold in half to hide journaling if you want
(150) 3×4 cards
I have (2) sets.
$11 per set including shipping within US
or $8 per set plus actual shipping outside US
Smoke-free, pet-free home
Paypal preferred but we can talk :)
