Here’s peek from the MAMBI site that gives a preview of what I’m talking about . . .
Yes, they are joining the ever popular trend of having a divided page protector, Project Life-type line and it’s called “Pocket Pages”. As a divided page protector scrapper and Project Lifer, I am very happy about this new development. I’ve always loved MAMBI’s happy, colorful, simple designs and have a bit of MAMBI (that’s short for Me and My Big Ideas) in my stash.
To make this development even better, the MAMBI “Pocket Pages” line will be carried @ Michaels! And as someone who has no Hobby Lobby, Archivers, Joann’s, or LSS, I mainly shop at Michaels. With COUPONS . . . hollah!
You can see the entire line of 3×4 and 4×6 cards HERE!!
I took the liberty of going to Michaels and taking some photos for you ;)
And on your behalf, I also bought {2} packs of the cards to start us off. There was a 50% off coupon that I used for us, too. All in the name of shopping research … hee! Here are the sets we got – they don’t have names that I could find so I made up my own:
SUMMER
We have a pool and live near the ocean so I have scads of photos to use these with. Happy!
SPORTS
Every kid I know plays sports and I love to take sports photos. Not to mention my love of MLB games and Spring Training. There are cards for soccer, baseball, and football. Another perfect match.
I love how on the back of the package they show each of the cards so you can see what you’re getting before you buy them :)
So the card packs retail for $4.99. You get {12} 4×6 cards with no repeats and {60} 3×4 cards with some repeats but not a lot. Some of the 3×4 cards are pattern-only like polka dots, grass, etc. No solids that I can remember. All of the cards have a reverse side of white with a light grey grid or swiss dots – so if you don’t have a use for the design, you can use the reverse side for journaling. The cardstock is of lighter weight – which I personally like because it makes for more pages within an album.
I’m pretty much in love with these cards and plan to buy just about every set over time with coupons. There are also the pocket pages (I already use WRMK and Becky Higgins Design A; not sure I want to introduce yet another style) and matching greeting card blanks. You just fold them in 1/2 and pop a 3×4 card on the front for a cute and quick card.
There are more at the link above – these are just 2 samples.
So there is my MAMBI @ Mike’s news and a review of their new product! Have you seen them at your Michaels yet? What sets have you bought or do you plan to buy?
Back in the day, LISA BEARNSON used to host scrapbooking shows on QVC. They were THE THING to watch. Scrappers would call in sick to work or gather and crop during these shows. They were such an event, lol. Well, Lisa left QVC some time ago as did scrapbooking as a whole.
Then HSN picked up the crafts/scrapbooking baton with a variety of hosts. While I’m grateful that at least someone has kept on with the scrapbooking shows, HSN has never held a candle to QVC’s old shows. That’s why I was so very excited to hear that Lisa Bearnson is coming to HSN! Not only that, she’ll be debuting Project Life there. As a Project Lifer myself, that was icing on the scrapbooky cake.
If you don’t want to know ahead of time many of the items she’ll be showing on HSN, don’t look below … SPOILERS!!
But first I’ll share the schedule so you can set your DVR – it’s basically Monday, 03-25-13 from midnight to midnight EST. HERE is the program guide at HSN.com. You can adjust it to show your time zone if you like.
These are the times Lisa says she will appear (all EST):
12:01 AM – Papercrafting with Lisa Bearnson premiere along with Today’s Special (Project Life) presentation
1:00 AM – Today’s Special (Project Life) presentation
8:00 AM – Today’s Special (Project Life) presentation
12:00 PM – Papercrafting with Lisa Bearnson premiere along with Today’s Special (Project Life) presentation
2:00 PM – Today’s Special (Project Life) presentation
5:00 PM – Papercrafting with Lisa Bearnson premiere along with Today’s Special (Project Life) presentation
6:00 PM – Today’s Special (Project Life) presentation
9:00 PM – Papercrafting with Lisa Bearnson premiere along with Today’s Special (Project Life) presentation
10:00 PM – Today’s Special (Project Life) presentation
She’s been posting on her blog about items she’ll be presenting on HSN for the big scrapbooking day. This is just a snapshot; click on her blog link above to see a lot more details. But here are all the products in one place:
On March 25th, 2013 at 12:01 a.m. I will present the Today’s Special–an exclusive Project Life kit that is not offered like this anywhere else. Oh–and wait until you see the price!
There will also be a washi tape item:
A Silhouette Cameo bundle:
And a card kit:
Sticker Bliss Mega Kit:
Project Life Blush and Jade kits:
Favorite File of Rub-Ons:
Across the Board border kit:
Life’s Little Moments chipboard kit:
American Crafts twine and paper trimmer:
I don’t know about you but I’m excited! DVR is set baby! First of all, I love Lisa. I was blessed to spend some time with her on a scrapbook cruise and she was amazing. Loved her and David Venable on QVC all those years (and thought the dust-up about ‘the slap’ was kind of silly, imho). Anyway, just happy to see something new and exciting coming to HSN for once. If I have to see the WRMK punches demo’d one more time I’m going to scream.
Reminder: If you’re PST like me, we actually get the first show at 9pm Sunday night :) I need to catch up on my Project Life. I think I’m going to set it up on the coffee table and have a little Scrap Party for One from 9pm to midnight, LOL.
Will you be watching? Got your eye on any of the items above?
Memory Works puts out 2 official catalogs per year – in the fall and spring. The next one is due in late March/early April and will feature a TON of items from the recent WINTER CHA show! But we don’t have to wait until a new catalog comes out to see and purchase the new goodies.
Nope. No sirreee Bob! Memory Works is awesome in that they add the new products to our websites as soon as they arrive in the warehouse. As of now, there is 1 vendor who is PROMPT sistah! I’m talking about My Minds Eye.
These first lines from CHA-Winter 2013 are now available on my MEMORY WORKS WEBSITE.
There are 6 new lines by MY MINDS EYE – Noteable, Memorable, Remarkable, Unforgettable, Boy Crazy, and My Girl. Here’s just a little taste of each one:
You can see all the new My Minds Eye items HERE. I’m so happy to see we have the ever-popular MME Enamel Dots, like these from “My Girl” and “Boy Crazy.” One of each, please!
These little dots are just perfect for adding accents to layouts. And I’m thinking their both going to look great in my PROJECT LIFE album using the SN@P! line. For Project Life, I’m always on the lookout for embellishments that will add a little texture without too much bulk, and visual interest without being too distracting. These are perfect!
So I decided to take on Project Life again in 2013 (I tried it once in 2009 … epic FAIL). So far, it’s really cutting into my blogging time, LOL! But, no, that’s good right? I’m scrapbooking again – woot! At home, not just at a retreat or crop . . . which is a miracle for me these days.
I’ll be posting this year about my adventures with Project Life so I hope you like hearing about it :)
One thing that’s crucial to making Project Life work for me in the long-term is it has to be SIMPLE. S-I-M-P-L-E. And fast. I’m plate-spinning here, people! (You know, like a circus act). Trying to keep everything going at once and not letting anything drop – family, work, blogging, scrapbooking, friends, volunteering, et al.
If Project Life is going to work for me, I need a fast and easy way to print photos. Sending them out to be developed or waiting in line for the photo machine at Target ain’t gonna’ work for me. I need to print at home. Yeah, it’s a tad more expensive but totally worth it.
I also didn’t want to bring software into the mix. I know there are programs such as iPhoto, Photosheet (not compatible with us Mac’ers unfortunately), and Photoshop. But does it sound like I have time to learn a new photo program much less do editing and all that crap?!?! Hell to thuh no. I barely have time to tear my washi before I pull it off the roll, sista!
So I keep it simple (see above). I print the photos straight from my camera card, no editing. I mean, this is Project REAL Life for me. It’s Day 14 and I’m actually caught up through Day 12. I owe most of that to my Epson Picturemate printer.
I have an older model; it’s a Picturemate Dash (PM 260). I finally figured out again how to print multiple smaller photos onto one 4×6 sheet. Thank you Project Life for motivating me, LOL!
You may already know how to do this but in case anyone doesn’t, I thought I’d share the instructions I typed out to keep by the printer (for the next time I forget how to do this or my mind is spinning so fast I can’t access any available brain cells):
Epson Picturemate Dash PM 260
How to print multiple photos on 1 sheet
1. Insert memory card into printer
2. When all photos have loaded, use arrows to find 1st photo you want
3. When it’s highlighted, make sure it says Total 1, then press OK
4. Highlight 2nd photo and press OK
5. Menu
6. Print Settings
7. Layout
8. Jumbo Wallet (or see other choices below)
9. Print – which will give you a preview to make sure it’s how you want
10. Print again – photo will print
Layout choices:
Jumbo Wallet = (2) 3×4 with no border; can do 2 different photos (great for Project Life!)
50×70 = (2) 2 x 2 ¾; can do 2 different photos
Wallet = (2) 2×3; can do 2 different photos
Mini Wallet = (4) 1 ¼ x 1 ¾; can do up to 4 different photos
US Passport = (2) 2×2; same photo only
Layout-3×3 = (1) 3×3 photo
*Portait Packages and US Passport = only prints multiple copies of same photo
There are MANY more layout choices. I just noted the ones I’m likely to use. I love having all these layouts to choose from because Simple Stories “Sna@p!” is coming out with some new page protector configurations . . . including tons of new 3×4 options!! I’m using the “Sn@p!” line as the basis of my Project Life 2013 so this is very anticipated :)
I like that I don’t have to use a computer program to print multiple photos onto one 4×6. I just pop my SD card out of my camera and into the Picturemate and print away! I don’t know if these instructions work for other models or newer models of the Epson Picturemate. But even if they don’t work specifically, at least you can see that this CAN be done! In 10 easy steps :)
Just find the manual for your printer online and look for the section about photo layout. Then you will be happyyyyy like meeee!!!
I’m continuing to review “TRUE SCRAP 4” individual classes, which were originally part of the huge 2-day “True Scrap 4” event in October 2012. I purchased the whole event and, although I was unable to attend “live” because I was out of town that weekend, I have really enjoyed watching the classes since then.
On the True Scrap 4 replays, you can either choose to watch just the instructional video itself or a recording of the live event = class video + ongoing chat of participants, intro by True Scrap hostess Lain Ehmann, and a Q&A with the class instructor afterward.
It’s kind of funny that this ended up being a favorite because (if I’m being totally honest … and you know I always am, sista’) it was one of the classes I was least looking forward to. I’m such a staunch paper-only scapper who swears that I will never go digital. So even the word “hybrid” kind of turns off my interested button.
BUT.
I was wrrr . . . I was wrr-rrr . . . I was not exactly right. {10 points if you know what I’m quoting!}. Well, here. Let me just show you.
I was WRONG. Okay?!?!? I was wrong. This was a great class and I think it should be one of your FIRST choices of True Scrap 4 classes to take. If you’re a VERY beginning computer-digital-hybrid scrapper like me, that is. I would not recommend it for experienced hybrid or digi-scrappers because I suspect that you already know how to do these techniques.
– How to print on a journaling card (in Word)
– How to add text to photos (in Photoshop)
– How to use Word Art (in Photoshop)
– How to print photos in any size you want (in Photoshop)
– How to print digital scrapbook supplies (two ways: DIY stickers in Word or photo-quality embellishments in Photoshop)
But these things were new to me! So if you don’t know how to do these things either, I would highly recommend this class. Jennifer has a nice, soothing, patient way of walking you through things. She shows you click by click these basic things and also how to play around with them a bit.
How to print photos in any size is great for you Instagrammers – she shows how to easily print those photos at home or send to a photo printer and a way to make sure the edges don’t get cut off. The DIY stickers ideas was a big hit among the class participants.
I think *my* most-used techniques will be the first two – printing on a journaling card and adding text to photos. I’ve been wanting to learn these things for so long, but my pledge to do Project Life in 2013 really had me wanting to learn how.
The whole Photoshop thing . . . well, I’m skerred of it. Didn’t wanna’ own it. Didn’t wanna’ learn it. Didn’t wanna’ pay a lot for it. Didn’t wanna’ go anywhere near that Devil of Digital Scrapbooking. But, well, to do most of the techniques in Jennifer’s “Hybrid Techniques” class, I’ll have to. The good news is that she provides a link where you can do the free trial of Photoshop Elements 11 (that’s the cheaper version anyway, and all a scrapbooker would need).
I’m waiting until I have some time to sit down and play with these techniques but I do plan to try the free trial. When I do, I’ve got a GREAT cheat sheet provided as part of the class – saved and bookmarked! Also – as with all True Scrap classes – I have lifetime access so I can go back and watch the video again as many times as I need to. And knowing me, it will take lots of times :)
While I’m raving about Jennifer Wilson, I thought I’d mention something else she’s doing that I’m very excited about for the new year. It’s a program she’s running on her own site, Simple Scrapper (which I’m a member of), and it’s called “Focus.”
And to introduce you to the class and see what it’s about before you pay for it, she’s offering 2 free sessions: Monday 01-07-12 @ 8:30 pm CST and Wednesday 01-09-13 at 1pm CST (2 different times to accommodate different schedules and time zones). Just pick which one works best for you. You get an e-mail confirmation and will get a reminder when it gets closer.
The purpose of this training is to share some of my best tips for simple scrapbooking and introduce the new Focus program. I hear so many talk about not enough time and getting behind etc. This year-long program will help scrapbookers hone in on what is most important and learn new skills to be more effective and efficient.
Do you want to:
Feel more relaxed every day?
Learn ways to scrapbook faster?
Finish the projects you start?
Find more time for scrapbooking?
I’d love to teach you some of my time-tested approaches for simplicity in a free training event. I want to show you exactly how to focus on what matters most in 2013 and have the best year ever! There are two dates and times, to best fit your busy schedule.
This is a perfect match-up for my other pledge for 2013: to get more scrapping done. But I need help. Obviously. I need someone to hold my hand. So I’m signed up to attend the session on 01-09-13 . . . if you sign up as well, please say “hi!”. If you click on the graphic, it will take you to the right place :)
Here’s what I saw when I opened up my lovely box from MEMORY WORKS:
And here is everything spread out on my desk:
I know the photo is so big it’s probably hanging over into the right sidebar. But I don’t care, LOL! I wanted to share a big photo of all this Snap goodness.
If you’d like to see a closer look at anything, please let me know :)
I’m going to use all of this for my Project Life in 2013. Seeing the colors in person has convinced me that it’s perfect and I made the right choice. It’s vibrant but not overly bright, a great mix of everyday colors that I know will look great with all my random photos, receipts, memorabilia, and journaling.
I’ve got a busy day working and full weekend. I can’t wait until I have some “me” time to just sit down and go through every stinkin’ sheet of this. Yummmmmmm!
Yesterday I inquired with Memory Works home office about when we could expect to get the Sn@p 6×8 albums in stock. Since Friday, I’ve had everything from the Sn@p! line EXCEPT the albums available on MY SITE. Here is the response I got, which they passed on from Simple Stories:
{SN@P! BINDER UPDATE}
From Simple Stories –
We wanted to inform our valued customers and retailers that unfortunately, upon our initial shipments we have found some quality issues in a batch of our albums and we are currently working on resolving the issue as soon as possible.
Please know that quality products are our highest priority, as we want only the best product represented for our stores, customers and Simple Stories. We are conducting quality checks on all our albums and once this is done we will resume shipping albums to our retailers.
We know you’re anticipating these new beautiful, colorful binders and we apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. We appreciate your support for our Simple Stories and SN@P! products – it gives us great pride to help play a role in documenting your important memories. A role we take very seriously – we thank you for your understanding and patience in this matter.
Thank you,
The Simple Stories Team
So it’s disappointing to have to wait longer but I’d rather wait and have a good quality product. It seems like these quality issues are happening in our industry lately – I wonder why?
Well, bummer!
Last Friday when all the other Sn@p! items appeared on my MW site, I went ahead and ordered most of it . . . except the albums and protectors. I have a big box of Sn@p goodness due to arrive today or tomorrow. I’ll post photos when it gets here!!
As for the Sn@p! albums, I don’t mind waiting a bit but I really hope I have at least 1 red one in time to start my first attempt at a DECEMBER DAILY. {{{Fingers crossed!}}} I’m using the Simple Stories “Sn@p!” line (with a WRMK 12×12 album and protectors) for my first recent attempt at Project Life/Project 365. At least I’ll have that stuff well in advance so I can get organized.
To my customers, I’m very sorry for the delay. I hope you’ll come back and order the albums through me when they become available :) Make sure you’re subscribed to my blog for updates. As soon as I have any news on the arrival of the Sn@p albums, I’ll post about it and you’ll get the news right away in your e-mail!
To say I’m excited is an understatement. I’ve been waiting for this line to be available for MONTHS!
If you’re wondering what I’m talking about, I’ve posted a few images in this post. But ya’ GOTTA’ go see it all HERE. You’re going to fall in love. It’s pure happiness, my friend.
So get on over to MY SITE and order some Sn@p! for yourself!
If you placed a pre-order, please go to my website (https://erika.memory-works.com) and place your order. I will get an automatic e-mail and will immediately approve your order since you’ve already paid. All your Sn@p-py goodness will ship straight to you from our home office in Utah within 1-2 business days. Thanks!
I just ordered almost the entire line. I’ll post pics when it gets here next week.
Gah, it’s like waiting for Christmas. Tick tock tick tock … HURRY YAP ALREADY!!
Whether you get it from me or somewhere else, will you get any of the amazing Sn@p! line?
This video made by Simple Stories to show off their new “Sn@p!” line is super cute. The fun music will have your toes tappin’. If you aren’t already planning to buy this entire line, watch out! This may just convert you over to the dark side … and make sure to watch ’til the end. There is a very special and funny person* having a good time ;)
If you’d like to get your hands on summa’ this cute “Sn@p!” line, I’m taking PRE-ORDERS! It will be on my MEMORY WORKS SITE soon . . . so easy to get, just like any other online store :)
As I mentioned HERE, I just needed to confirm with MEMORY WORKS home office that we’re still expected to receive all the new Simple Stories “Sn@p!” lines the first week of October. As of yesterday, that was confirmed so I’m going to start taking pre-orders, yippee!
HERE is a cool blog entry I did that shows big pictures of ALL the “Sn@p!” items from all 3 lines – Core, Life, and Color Vibe. One big advantage to ordering Simple Stories products from me @ Memory Works – the company who started SIMPLE STORIES – is that we always have textured American Crafts cardstock and ribbon packs to match each line!
HERE is where you can see all of the Sn@p! items on my site with prices. {Other than the page protectors which are already available, Sn@p! items will show Out of Stock until around 10/05/12}.
If you place a pre-order now, please understand that I can’t promise when these items will be available; I can only go by the estimate the Memory Works gives me :) But when they ARE available, I’ll be posting here on my blog to let you know (so please Subscribe to my blog, and you’ll get an automatic e-mail). If you pay for a pre-order, that’s when you came back HERE to place your actual order. Sound good?
Here is how the pre-orders will work:
I’ll collect and process payments until the release date. When the kits and additional items become available, I’ll e-mail you with instructions on what to do then.
{Which will be to log into my Memory Works WEBSITE, place the pre-paid for items in your shopping cart, enter your shipping address, and submit your order. I will automatically be notified that your order has been placed and, instead of having to wait for your payment to be received, I’ll be able to approve your order for processing immediately … assuming your payment has been received and processed already}.
{But don’t worry about that part right now, LOL}.
To place your pre-order now, e-mail me at scrapbookobsession(at)gmail(dot)com. Please include:
1. Item(s) requested and cost
2. Shipping name/address including zip code
3. Total due including items, tax*, and shipping/handling**
4. Payment method – check, money order, or Paypal
~ I prefer Paypal, and will e-mail a Paypal invoice to you ASAP
~ If paying by check or money order, I’ll e-mail you back with my address. Please be aware that I can’t approve your order until the check/MO have been received and cleared.
* Sales tax amount is based on the tax rate for the address you’re shipping to. There is a really cool sales tax rate lookup and calculator HERE.
** Please see THIS post for information on Memory Works shipping costs.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns :) If you know of anyone who plans to order Simple Stories “Sn@p!” please send them my way!
Lain Ehmann over at Layout a Day.com just announced her next FREE SCRAPINAR for October and I think you’re going to love it!
Hmmm … You know that little voice in your head that talks to you but no one else can hear … yet *I* know what it’s saying right now? It’s saying, “What in Blue Cherry Hill is a ‘scrapinar’???” And since I heard your little voice alllll the way from here, I’m going to answer: A scrapinar is an online event where everyone meets up at the same bat time on the same bat channel (e.g., same website – which will be provided to you when you sign up). Lain speaks to us live, then she introduces a pre-recorded mini-scrapbook class or seminar. While all of us “students” are listening to Lain and watching the video, in another box on our computer screen, we are having an ongoing “live” (real time) chat with Lain and each other about the topic. We ask questions, make comments, share our own ideas, make jokes, whatever.
And the beauty part is that if you get interrupted or miss it altogether, you will have a certain window of time AFTER the scrapinar to log in, watch Lain, watch the video, and read the chat transcript. Lain also shares any links, worksheets, etc. that were discussed during the scrapinar. BUT – aint’t there always a but? – you MUST register before the event to have access to it afterward (i.e., you can’t see if after the fact if you didn’t sign up to attend originally). You don’t need Skype or anything. Lain sends you instructions on how to access the “classroom” and they’re really super easy. Hey, I’m about the biggest techno-boob out there and I managed to figure it out. Just sayin’ …
The REAL beauty part is … this is all FREE if you can flippin’ believe it! I know, right?
So here are the Top 5 Reasons You Should Sign Up:
1. On Tuesday, 10/02/12, she is having Jennifer Woodbury, a creative team member for Becky Higgins’ Project Life! She will share “Project Life Step-by-Step.”
2. As soon as you sign up, you’ll be offered a special deal that you can only get by signing up for this particular scrapinar. {Hint: It involves Becky Higgins, it’s a great deal, and you won’t want to miss it}.
3. If you already love Lain, you get to spend more time with her. And if you’ve never “met” Lain, what are you waiting for guuurrrrll? She’s fun, upbeat, and always hooks us scrappers up with cool stuff.
4. The October scrapinar uses the same “live chat” and video technology that Lain uses for the TRUE SCRAP events. So this is the perfect test drive to see how it works, get any bugs out, etc. before True Scrap later in October*
5. Um, *I* will be there! DUH!
*TRUE SCRAP 4 is an amazing 2-day, all-inclusive, online scrapbooking event taking place October 21-22, 2012. You get:
Inspiration and Education from 15 A-list instructors…
Five virtual project make-and-takes…
Pre-Event PJ Party…
Virtual goodie bag…
All for one low price…
All from YOUR computer!
I’ll be attending a True Scrap event for the first time. You can probably tell how excited I am because I keep blogging about it, LOL. I just think it’s a super cool thing and I wish I would’ve found True Scrap earlier. The class I took from True Scrap 3 was the best of ANY online scrapbooking classes I’ve ever taken, and that’s what brought TS4 to my full attention. Please think about joining me. Srsly.
I also hope to see you at the free October scrapinar. Do you think you’ll attend either event?
Simple Stories has a HUGE new collection coming out in October 2012. It’s amazingly fun and ~ I’m totally serial, it’s FEE-YOU-JUS! So grab your beverage of choice, make yourself comfy, and get ready to scroll!!
I’m putting ALLLLL of the sure-to-be-popular “Sn@p!” collections by SIMPLE STORIES in one place so you can see it all together … and decide which pieces you “need”. Of if you’re like me, this is going to put into perspective how much money we need to put aside to buy, well, most if not all of the “Sn@p!” collections. Yeah, it’s kinda’ scary :P
As always, I’ll be selling the entire “Sn@p!” line as a MEMORY WORKS CONSULTANT. And here . . . drumroll please . . . is the “Sn@p!” line in its entirety:

*ETA 10/01/12: When I originally posted the prices here, they were taken from the wholesale catalog and reflected retail prices ending in “.99”. Now that the items are listed on my Memory Works website, I see that MW rounded the prices up a penny to end in “.00” and I’ve updated them here accordingly – a minor change but I wanted to explain the edits I made to this blog entry. Thanks!
Without further adieu, here are pictures of the … SN@P! CORE COLLECTION … that I just listed above.
See what I mean? There’s A LOT! And that’s only the first of THREE “Sn@p!” collections arriving in October 2012.

* I noticed that 2838 above is mislabeled. It says “Brown Dot/Stripe” but should be “Grey Dot/Stripe”.
Soooo … those are all 3 of the new Sn@p! collections that are coming your way in October 2012. See what I mean? It’s a HUGE line!
I was trying to think how to differentiate the 3 collections in my mind and here is what I came up with:
Sn@p! “Core” Collection: 6×8 album album and all the accessories
Sn@p! “Life” Collection: 12×12/divided protector scrapping; what Simple Stories lines traditionally contain
Sn@p! “Color Vibe” Collection: 6×6 and 12×12 papers in basic colors and patterns to support the other 2 lines
I’m so in love with this line and hope that you are too! I’ll be taking pre-orders; details on how to place your pre-order will be in another post.
What do you think of “Sn@p!”?
ETA 10/01/12: Okay, I updated a few other things above so that now this blog entry matches the descriptions and prices of what’s actually on my Memory Works shopping site. And here are 2 things that are exclusive to Memory Works consultants like me:
American Crafts Coordinating Cardstock Pack, {7} sheets of textured 12×12 cardstock pack in colors to match the “Sn@p!” line $3.75
I’m now taking PRE-ORDERS until the line is in stock. Once you see it in stock HERE, no pre-order necessary. Just put it in your cart and order away :)
Wow, what a great way to start the day. Opened my e-mail and saw the consultant alert that Simple Stories (my favorite scrapbooking line EVER!) is releasing another new line soon … EEE! And not only that, it’s going to be another one of my favorites of all their lines so far (this release makes lucky 13).
Oh, what was that? Did you say “Quit jabbering and show us some pictures, mama”? Alright already! Here ya’ go …

OMG ~ I am loving all those Designer Cardstocks! Actually, hate to say but I’ll have to buy this entire collection. It coordinates perfectly with the original “Life Documented” line and I still have some of it … hollah! And just like “Life Documented,” the new line “Year.o.Graphy” is going to be perfect for Project 365/Project Life type scrapbooking, don’t you think?
Yes, you can buy Simple Stories “Year.o.Graphy” from online retailers … but why wouldn’t you order it straight from the friendly MEMORY WORKS CONSULTANT right here in front of you?
I used the Simple Stories “Life Documented” line to do my Project 365 last year (2010). HERE is a post about it so you can see what I’m talking about.

If you order from my website, Memory Works shipping rates will apply. If you order from me (what I have in stock, shown above), I will Flat Rate ship super quick and split the shipping cost with you (I’m actually losing money but I want to sell these babies! So a great deal for you!)
Even if you don’t do Project 365 per se, “Life Documented” can easily be adapted to Photo a Week, Photo a Month, a regular family album, or whatever you like. It’s THE most versatile scrapbooking line I’ve ever seen and the colors/design are gorgeous. You have to see it in person :)
Give me a shout out if you’re interested or have any questions. Leave a comment below or e-mail me: scrapbookobsession(at)gmail(dot)com. First come, first served :)
The response to this new line and kit by MEMORY WORKS has been overwhelming! Which, as a Memory Works consultant, excites me to no end. It feels good when so many people have such a positive response to a product that the company YOU work for sells.
So I’ve decided to do regular update blog posts here about it. Here is UPDATE #1 and UPDATE #2 in case you missed them. They don’t have “Update” in the title because I didn’t realize when I wrote them that Simple Stories/Life Documented would be such a big honkin’ deal, LOL!
I’m also going to start sending out e-mail updates to anyone who would like to be on my address list. If you would like to be on my list and receive updates about Simple Stories “Life Documented”, please e-mail me: scrapbookobsession(at)gmail(dot)com. {I would prefer you didn’t leave your e-mail address in my blog Comments, as then your personal e-mail is out there for everyone on the web to see and you will be spammed to within an inch of your life. Believe me.}
I’ve been away from the computer for the last several days, so I haven’t been able to share all the Life Documented sneak peeks they’ve been posting on the Simple Stories BLOG, but here are some links so you can get all caught up:

For this update, how about a What, Where, How kind of thing?
WHAT is Simple Stories “Life Documented” by Memory Works?
Let me scooch back a little and start at the beginning :) Memory Works is a direct sales scrapbooking company that has been around for 7 years. It is run by Amber and Kevin Crowell (husband and wife) from Utah, USA. Over the years, they have built a wonderful and successful business with consultants from all over the country selling the “latest and greatest” scrapbooking products direct to the customer. Until now, Memory Works has sold products made by other companies, such a My Minds Eye, Basic Grey, Pink Paislee, and Bo Bunny.
Beginning in January 2010, Memory Works will manufacture and sell their OWN product line called Simple Stories. The first release from this line is called “Life Documented” and it consists of paper (not digital*) scrapbooking elements, and it works perfectly with the We R Memory Keepers 12×12 D-ring albums and regular/pocket page protectors that Memory Works already carries. *The kit itself is paper but there will be a free digital element to it also.
WHEN will Simple Stories “Life Documented” items be available to purchase?
The We R Memory Keepers 12×12 D-ring albums and page protector packs are currently for sale through any Memory Works consultant. I notice that as of now, the Celery green color is out of stock, but other colors are available. My assumption is that the Celery color will be in stock when the kits are.
Speaking of which, the Simple Stories “Life Documented” kits are projected to be available for purchase in mid-January. MW does not believe in promising something until they have it in their hands, so they will not take orders until they actually have the product and know they can fulfill the orders. (My VERY OWN OPINION is that Memory Works trying to avoid a fiasco like Becky Higgins/Creating Keepsakes had with their Project 365 kits last year at this time….man, that got ugly!).
So, if you would like to order the albums and page protectors now, you can, or you can wait until the kit comes in and get everything at once. Totally up to you. Either way, I hope you will consider ordering from me (yeah, I have no shame…) and you would do so HERE. Instructions are HERE.
HOW does the Life Documented kit work and would it be a good fit for Project 365, Project 52, and the like?
The concept of Simple Stories is just that: SIMPLE. Take photos, get them in an album, embellish, journal, DONE. Sure, we scrapbookers are creative types, and we love to make more detailed and complicated layouts a lot of the time. But what if you’re super busy like me and find you don’t have the time to scrapbook that you used to? What if you took a big trip with lots of photos and are now daunted by the prospect of getting all those fab photos into one album, and getting it done, like, sometime this century?
Maybe your solution is Simple Stories. Take your 4×6 photos (no cropping necessary), slip them into divided page protectors like THESE from We R Memory Keepers, slip in some embellishment by way of nicely designed accents made from heavy cardstock, jot down some journaling on a predesigned card, and you’re done.
If you’re planning to do Project 365 in 2010 (or Project 52, Project 12, etc), you can see this will be perfect for these projects. The page protectors come in many different configurations, with different sized pockets, vertical and horizontal 4×6 photo slots, etc. so you can personalize it exactly how you like. Many of you have already purchased the PROJECT LIFE kit by Becky Higgins and that is awesome. Rock on, Project Life sistas! She gives you a lot of product for the price and her clean, simple style is very appealing. However, if the style of her kit doesn’t appeal to you, or you did her Project 365 last year and maybe want to try something with a different layout and look this year, check out Life Documented :)
WHERE can you order Simple Stories “Life Documented”?
You can order from any Memory Works Consultant. If she has her own website, you can order directly from there. If she doesn’t, you can tell the consultant what you want and she will place the order for you. My website is HERE. I take check and money order, but prefer Paypal as you will get your order quicker (since I don’t have to wait for payment in the mail before I can place your order).
No matter which consultant you order from, and where she and you are located, your order will ship from Memory Works in Utah. So it is NOT necessary to find a “consultant near you”, kwim?
Do you think a lot of your friends might like “Life Documented” or other Memory Works products? Want to earn a 20% commission on everything you sell and/or buy for yourself? Consider becoming a Memory Works CONSULTANT {starts as low as $20 sign-up!}. If you do sign up, I would love the free product credit I get if you put in my consultant number (wink).
WHY should I wait for Life Documented kit, when Project 365 starts tomorrow?
I have asked myself that same question, LOL! I’m going to do Project 365 for the first time in 2010 (HERE is where I agonized over the decision). Of course, I’m anxious to get started and afraid of falling behind. Waiting for 2 weeks into the new year before I can order Life Documented seems counterintuitive, right?
But I figure that once I receive “Life Documented”, it’s so super easy, I can get caught up in one scrapping session. Starting tomorrow on January 1, I’ll begin taking my daily photo and jotting some quick journaling about it in my dayplanner, notebook, or a Word document. {This is a practice I’ll keep up throughout the year}. Then when I get the kit, I’ll print out my 2 or 3 weeks of photos and pop them into the page protectors, copy over my journaling onto the pre-done journaling cards, add a few embellishments and accents, and I’m caught up. Piece a cake, I tell ya. So I’m not worried about it…
I like the “Life Documented” kit so much more than Becky’s that it’ll be worth the wait. Here are some pix so you can see how different they are:
A peek of PROJECT LIFE
A peek of LIFE DOCUMENTED
What I’ve been hearing on the message boards is that one kit or the other is “your style,” so it’s nice that there are 2 options we can all choose from, don’t you think? Yay, OPTIONS! We LOVE options!
ETA: I’ve been getting inquires from outside of the States, so I want to clarify that question. Standard shipping within the Continental US is $8.45 for up to an $87.99 purchase. For higher charges, there is also Rush shipping and shipping to APO/FPO, Alaska, Hawaii and US Territories. As of now, Memory Works does NOT ship outside of the US but, if you’re willing to pay the actual shipping costs, I can have any Memory Works products shipped to me in California, and I will ship them to you :)
So, I hope I’ve answered your questions about Simple Stories “Life Documented” by Memory Works. If I haven’t, please leave me a comment and I’ll answer in my next Update.
If you would like updates by e-mail, please e-mail me as explained above. And one last thing…
HAPPY SCRAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Have a safe, fun, and fabulous night :) Our plan includes pizza, movies, a fire in the woodstove, board games, and staying home where it’s safe and warm. I know, just livin’ The Vida Loca over here, ain’t we? {I do plan to break out the Dirty Martinis at some point, so if you see me on the scrapbook message boards tonight and I’m not making much sense, I’m probably PUI…Posting Under the Influence…ha!}
Okay, okay, okay! You all convinced me to take the plunge and actually commit to doing Project 365 next year. Sheesh. We’ve been talking about it on Scrap Sisters Studio HERE and have quite a little group going of scrappers who’re going to participate.
If you’re already an SSS member and are going to do P365, please come join us. And if you aren’t a member, Good God, why? You’re missing all the fun! So come join SCRAP SISTERS STUDIO and then be part of all the P365 fun over there. There is also a 2009 group that does daily posts on 2peas; I’m sure they’ll do it in 2010 also. Some people are going to do variations on 365, like a “52” weekly layout, or a “12” monthly layout. No matter how you slice it, join in on the message boards and help us all stay motivated with this project, okay?
The new year is only 9 days away, so we need to get moving and make some decisions. What size and type of album are you going to use? Will you do a full layout per day/week/month, or use the pocket page method shown in my last post? Which paper and embellies will you use ~ scraps, lines you already have on hand, Becky Higgins’ Project Life kit, or are you shopping for something? If you’re using the pocket page protectors, figure out which direction the slots go and make sure you’re taking your photos correctly (the correct mix of horizontal vs. vertical), or be aware that you’ll have some editing or cropping to do to your photos.
I’m waiting on the new line from MEMORY WORKS to use for my Project 365 album, which isn’t due out until mid-January, so I can’t concretely answer all of these questions myself. However, I’m paying attention to what other scrappers are doing and am getting some great ideas for my own album. Here is what I do know: I’m going to use the pocket pages method, and do a 2-page spread with 7 photos for each week. Using the sample in my last post, that would leave a slot for a title for the week, 4 slots to hold (7) 4×3 journaling cards and (1) 4×3 miscellaneous card or embellie.
The kit I plan to use is called “Life Documented” and it’s from the new Simple Stories system by Memory Works. I don’t know a ton about it, because they are being quite saucy about revealing sneak peeks little by little. But I’ve read through all the material on THIS site and here is my impression: It’s the perfect line for Project 365! LOL
Let me be more specific … There will be pre-cut journaling cards and embellishments in various sizes (12×6, 4×6, etc.) to slip into pocket page protectors of the same size. It’s a paper product, not digital, although free digital downloads will be available to enhance it. There is mention of a “catalog” so I’m assuming it won’t be one huge kit like Project Life, but separate elements you can purchase according to your own specific needs.
Here are some peeks of what it will look like:
I’m loving the colors and this is so totally my style. Hello!?!? Scallops, graph paper, and brackets? Hollah! I think the look is very versatile, and will go with pretty much any photo. I like the binder looking paper, the flourish swirls, all of it. No, I’m not just saying that because I’m a Memory Works consultant and it’s a Memory Works product. How dare! I think you know by now that I call it like I see it. If I think an MW product is fugly or stupid, I don’t mention it at all. That’s just how I roll.
Like any scrapbook company with a new product these days, Memory Works is hoping to use the power of the internet and social networking to get the word out about this new product. To that end, they are giving away ONE FREE KIT per week between 12/17/09 and 01/18/10 and you enter by spreading the word. Details are HERE. So if you’d like a chance at winning, or you just want to be nice and help me publicize this new kit (Seriously? Yeah, I was very cheeky there, wasn’t I?), please check it out and participate. If you like what you see, and think you could sell this and/or other MW products to your friends, talk to me about becoming a consultant. It’s basically a no-lose situation. (Ha ha, “situation.” Do you watch Jersey Shore on MTV? When Mike says, “Cuz that’s The Situation. If you’re a hater, I got a full-time job for you.” Oh, love it!)
They even have 4 cool blinkies for your blog or siggie line on message boards. Here is but one rockin’ blinkie:
Okay, MW commercial is over. I mainly wanted to share that I have in fact committed to doing Project 365 in 2010! Uh, why did I just break out in a cold sweat? I’m really counting on you guys to keep me on top of this thing. Don’t let me slide. Like people have said, you don’t HAVE to take a photo every day. You can fill in those slots with journaling, with a receipt from your trip to the grocery store or other ephemera of your life, or you can fill in with undated photos that you (if truth be told) took on a different day (Gasp! Wouldn’t that be like lying to myself and future generations?? Ha ha, just kidding. Crap, even I’m not THAT anal).
Hearing things like that takes the pressure off a bit. And that’s a good thing because I have enough pressure in my life without adding this on top of it. Do I take the Mercedes or the Escalade to Pilates today? Do we go to the opera or a Broadway show on Friday night? Should we send little Johnny to astronaut camp or Olympic skiing camp this summer? I mean, really, do I DESERVE any more pressure in my life? I think not.
Once January 1 arrives, I’ll start taking my daily photos and writing some quick journaling on my computer or in a journal. Then when I do have more information about Life Documented, and do have the actual “stuff” in my hands, I’ll start putting it all together. Ideally, it would be great to get the whole album kind of “pre-flighted” (is that just a military and law enforcement term?) with all the pocket pages, title cards, and journaling cards actually in place in the album. Then you just add the photos in as you print them, and write the journaling then too. I’ve heard this as a helpful hint from those who did P365 in 2009 and it sounds brilliant to me!
So, I hope you have decided to join me in Project 365 next year, but if you haven’t, I totally understand, girlfriend. Uh huh, yes I do….
