We’re within 2-3 weeks of Anthology’s release, which is Lisa Bearnson’s new line with Youngevity/Heritage Makers.
I posted a couple sneak peeks HERE and will continue to post them periodically, with new ones scheduled to be released each Monday and Thursday until The Big Day.
Here are some collages of sneak peeks:
– The albums and cardstock I posted about before, along with a storage item from the Hangin’ Around card kit.
– More peeks of how kit items will be packaged and you can keep them stored on a bookshelf, if you wish. Regarding the folder, you can see a place to take notes as you work on your project – layout, photos to gather, photo sizes, special notes, etc.
A sneak of a layout kit along with a sketch. Anthology monthly kits will come pre-cut, packaged in a poly bag, and with a storage solution included as the packaging.
– A look at some of the embellishments that will come with kits along with a peek at the Anthology CEO bag (see more about CEO below).
“These cards are from the Hangin’ Around Card Kit, available in September . . . It has supplies to create 20 cards in a variety of styles (with multiples of each style), plus envelopes, foam squares, and more. Plus, many of the embellishments are self-adhesive and the card bases are sturdy like ones you’d buy from a store.”
“The cards in this Make & Shake Card Kit are as fun to make as they are to give! This kit also makes 20 cards in several designs (with multiples of each design) and includes envelopes, foam squares, and more. And just like the Hangin’ Around card kit, you’ll find adhesive-backed embellishments and sturdy card bases.”
“As a side note, this kit is exclusive to the CEO kit so if you want to make and shake, you’ll need to buy the Anthology CEO kit! [That’s the big kit you purchase to be a CEO; it costs $499 but you receive a kit exceeding that in value which you can use for yourself, use as a demo, or re-sell for full retail and make a profit].
. . . Remember, you’re not seeing everything, just a little peek at what you’ll find in these kits. Also, there are limited quantities of each kit, so once they are gone, they likely won’t be ordered again, so make sure you order your favorites as soon as they are available.”
On the conference call I participated in, there was a Q&A panel where it was confirmed that the:
– cardstock is 12×12 (no 8.5 x 11)
– products are acid-free, lignin-free, buffered, and archival safe
– embellishment types will vary from kit to kit
– the kits will all be around the same price point
If you want to follow along on your own, make sure to check out the HERITAGE MAKERS blog and LISA BEARNSON‘s blog. Also, you can subscribe to this blog, join my free newsletter (both in the upper right sidebar), and follow me on TWITTER and PINTEREST.
I think what I’ll do is post on Twitter/Pinterest with the sneaks from Monday 08-03-15, then post them here along with Thursday’s on 08-06-15.
So far, I’m loving the clean look, bright but not too bright colors, and included storage solutions. What are YOUR thoughts on what you’re seeing of “Anthology”?
Here’s a round-up of some cool scrappy things I saw this week and thought you might like:
– Isn’t this a super fun card by Emily Spahn for October Afternoon??
Love, love, love the color combos and happy feel. She uses the “Summertime” line – which reminds me that I need to snap some of that up! I can’t find it many places and nowhere on sale. I might wait and see if Scrapbook Steals gets it.
– Are you looking for some new blogs get addicted to? Check out this list by Ali Edwards of ‘blogs that fill her up.’ But if you’re going to check out those blogs, I just have a little message for you:
– Father’s Day is coming up next weekend (6/21). If you need some ideas for a handmade papercrafted gift, check out my Father’s Day Pinterest board. Hope you find some fun inspiration there!
– Call me late to the party (just don’t forget to call me! LOL) but I just noticed there’s something called “self-adhesive sequins“. Uh, game changer! They’re by WRMK:
The main reason I’ve never used sequins on my pages is because I just don’t have the patience! Pick one out of the baggie or jar, flip it backside up, put liquid glue on the back, c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y put it on your page, somehow deal with the excess glue, and pray the sequin stays glued down. Okay, now you’ve got 1 done. Repeat 15 times. Yeah, um, NO. But I could get into these!
– Need some journaling tips or inspiration? Love this from Emily Pitts for Scrapbook and Cards Today magazine.
I’m Erika Friday, a proud member of Team Lisa! This means that I’m a consultant for the following companies:
Youngevity
– Heritage Makers
– Our Memories for Life
– Anthology by Lisa Bearnson
If you clicked on Team Lisa solely because you’re interested in buying her Anthology products: Please sign up HERE as a Preferred Customer (top right, Join, Customer). When her products are released in late summer 2015, you’ll be ready to purchase :) And you’ll get everything you buy at WHOLESALE price!
If you’re curious about the other scrapbooking products, the big picture, the business opportunity, the health-related products, etc., please keep reading!
Youngevity, Heritage Makers, and Our Memories for Life have been around for a while (Youngevity for 18 years) but Team Lisa has recently been formed under the Youngevity umbrella to market and sell Lisa Bearnson’s “Anthology” products. Lisa’s products will be released in Late Summer 2015 and she’s forming Team Lisa as her “downline” – which is what I’m part of. And you can be too, as either a preferred customer or a ‘consultant’; both include a 30% discount on Lisa’s products.
As I’m learning about Youngevity et al, I’m thinking “it’s a LOT!” LOL There’s so much to take in. Granted, I joined Youngevity to be on Team Lisa and sell her Anthology products. But what I’m finding is that Youngevity has a lot of other things to offer and I’m trying to understand it all. Whoa.
So … sort of selfishly, I’ve started this page on my site to keep all of the things I learn and links I need in one place. And I figure it can be a great resource for any other scrappers who join my team in the future, or anyone who has questions about it.
THE BASICS
Youngevity is the umbrella over everything. It’s like an online shopping mall with tons of fun products geared toward living a healthy lifestyle:
Then of course there are the scrapbooking products, both digital and paper:
– Heritage Makers: Digital scrapbooking, business supplies, photo gifts, etc.
– Our Memories for Life: Paper scrapbooking products like strap-hinge albums and refills, tape runners, multi-purpose tool, paper packs, etc. Creative Memories co-founder Rhonda Anderson has brought some of her products to HM so they’re very similar to CM.

Youtube 07-10-15: Lisa Bearnson talks about how she came to have a product line with Youngevity and why she believes in their other products as well.
Okay, I’ve calmed down a little bit now and I’m breathing normally again, LOL. Yeah, a tad bit excited yesterday when I posted HERE and a couple other places about my new position. Oh my gosh, you guys, this post ended up being soooooo looooonnnnngggg. You know me, Miss Verbose! But it’s the weekend so I hope you have time to grab a Diet Coke and take a read :)
So my great news is that I’ve joined up as a direct seller under the Youngevity brand as of 03-25-15; my official title is Independent Marketing Director. I want to tell you how it all came about and what it means for me and for this blog. I also want to offer you the opportunity to join me, if you’re so inclined :)
THE HISTORY
As I said HERE, there’s been a lot going on behind the scenes. I’m going to write a post about that this weekend, too. I won’t be giving away any secrets yet but will talk about the “why” of it all.
In the midst of all this – actually ever since Memory Works closed in 2013 – I’ve been missing selling scrapbook supplies, interacting with customers, and making some extra money to fund my scrapbook shopping addiction … erm, habit. However, of the few scrapbook-related direct sales companies remaining that I looked into, none of them blew my dress up, so to speak.
I also looked into having my own online shop, either adding it onto this site or starting an Etsy shop. Which still may happen in some form, some day in the future.
Then out of the blue, I was contacted by a fellow scrapbooker named Kim who asked some questions about Scrapbook Obsession Blog. We got to chatting and she told me that it was still hush-hush but she’d been chosen to be on Lisa Bearnson’s direct selling team for a new venture Lisa was starting with Youngevity/Heritage Makers. This was because Kim had been very successful with Leaving Prints in the past.
Well, you know me, I’ve been a Lisa Bearnson fan since Day One. I read her Creating Keepsakes magazine cover to cover every single month it was published. I took vacation days from work to watch Lisa and David on QVC Scrapbooking, and now I watch her on HSN Scrapbooking. I even had the pleasure of spending a week with her on a scrapbooking cruise in the Mediterranean years ago. The interactions I, my mom, and my friend had with her that week made me an even more loyal fan and admirer. Not only was she extremely kind and caring but a great teacher and patient organizer.
In 2007, I started my own transcribing and virtual assistant business around the same time I started with Memory Works. Becoming a business owner and a consultant only increased my admiration for women like Lisa Bearnson. There are so many moving parts, lots of missed sleep and deadlines and financial worry. She makes it look so easy – which is what I need in a mentor, right? But above all her business success, I’ve always seen that family and faith are her priorities. They’re what inspire her scrapbooking and it’s just another thing I love about Lisa because those are my life priorities, too.
So, all that to say, once my new friend Kim said that Lisa Bearnson was involved in this venture, I said, “I’m in!” even before I knew if I was ALLOWED in, LOL. And when she invited me to be a part of her team – I thought about it, looked into it, talked to DH about it, prayed on it – and said YES PLEASE!
HOW I DECIDED
As I found out, there are 2 options to join. For $10, you can be a Consultant with discounted purchasing for yourself and the ability to sell to others. I would consider it to be the so-called “hobbyist” option. And for only $10 (lifetime!), I can’t see any reason why we ALL wouldn’t join. I love me a no-brainer :) You could easily save $10 on your first order, I’m sure.
The other option is awesome but MUCH harder to decide on because it costs $500 to join at the CEO level. You get $500 in publishing points to spend on custom Heritage Maker products, traditional scrapbooking products, or other Youngevity products – your choice. (Mineral make-up, K-cups, essential oils … ruh roh, I may be in twuble here …). Or you can hold onto those points until late summer 2015 and use them to buy Lisa Bearnson’s “Anthology” products – which is what I’ll probably do.
So $500 a LOT of money to me and, I’m sure, to most people. I actually had that amount set aside from our tax return for something else. But, like I said, I thought and prayed and talked it over with my husband. I didn’t really need much convincing about the huge opportunity here. In the end, I couldn’t NOT sign up. Lisa Bearnson is not only creating new products that I know I and many others will want to buy; I want those for 30% off and I believe they’ll even be available on an auto-ship. Lisa says, “It will be a collection of fresh, fashion-forward designs founded on the principle that quality scrapbooking and memory keeping does not have to be difficult.”
This is all NEW but my understanding is that Lisa will be referring scrapbookers who express interest on her website down to us CEOs and Consultants. Hello?!? That’s amazing! I was curious just HOW popular her website is so I went to Alexa.com. For an example, Scrapbook Obsession Blog shows 951,266 rank in the US. LisaBearnson.com shows rank 365,074. Her bounce rate is 43% whereas mine is 86%. This means that most people come to my site and leave quickly (“the Pinterest effect”, lol) while at hers they stay and read. In other words, Lisa has an engaged audience and that is SO important! It’s what I strive for.
You may hear from Lisa haters once in a while but there are many, many more scrappers who respect her and are interested in what she offers and sells. So I have ZERO doubt that being a downline from her will lead to success. I have a goal to make back my $500 investment by the end of 2015 and I’m confident I’ll do that. (Although technically, it’s not even an investment since I get business supplies AND $500 to spend on products).
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR SCRAPBOOK OBSESSION BLOG
Now, don’t let all this scare you away. This is an MLM (multi-level marketing) business and Lordy do I know that some people become MLM’ers and become highly annoying – constantly barraging their family, friends, and acquaintances on Facebook and in person with their latest “amazing offer!” and “great deal!” and “you MUST try this!”.
Don’t worry, this blog won’t become a constant blast of Youngevity / Heritage Makers / Anthology posts. I expect the number of posts to be about the same amount as I did with Memory Works which I don’t think was too bothersome, was it? I always always always try to start blog post titles with the TOPIC so if it’s not your bag, you can keep on movin’, sister! I’ll continue doing that so you can just ignore the posts if they bug you. I’m also planning to start a mailing list specifically for people on my team who join Youngevity under me and those interested but not sure – to share information – but JUST to those who’ve expressed interest. Sound good?
MORE ABOUT THE NEW ADVENTURE
I signed up as a Youngevity CEO just a few days ago and there’s still much to learn. They’re a HUGE company with lots of arms, just 2 of which are scrapbook-related. Here is the structure, as I’ve figured it out so far:
Here’s the structure of people:
Youngevity – the Wallach family
Co-creator of Heritage Makers and Lisa’s Team Trainer – Wendy McGee
Creator of Anthology and Heritage Makers Brand Ambassador – Lisa Bearnson (eeee! she already has Anthology and Team Lisa links on her site!)
Under Lisa/Wendy, there are 2 downlines and then me :) If you’d like to join in – and I’d absolutely LOVE to have you – you’d be my downline. Just make sure to contact me and to sign up through my website so I get credit and you’re assigned to my team.
Even though I had a little heads up about Lisa Bearnson’s new venture, I had to keep quiet about it online until it was officially announced at the Youngevity conference in California this week. Then it was official and we could jabber about it, as of yesterday! There are 2 private Facebook groups to get up-to-the-minute information, including a new one for Team Lisa Bearnson. If you join up, we’ll get you added to those groups if you’d like.
Here’s the video they showed at the conference along with some photos:
Tip: Have a tissue handy. Sniffle.
That’s Wendy McGee on the left, Lisa Bearnson, and Jana Eubank on the right. Now there’s another name you might recognize from the scrapbooking industry! Check out her amazing resume HERE.
Lisa speaking at the conference
Did you know Rhonda Anderson, co-founder of Creative Memories, is also part of Heritage Makers? Which reminds me – I haven’t even told you much about the products yet! Tons of fun digital stuff that I need to learn about like photo books, business cards, gift items, etc. The current selection of paper scrapbooking products isn’t huge but it has a Creative Memories feel to it including their great albums, page refills, and tools – like my favorite, the Multi-Purpose Tool. I frantically searched for and bought one of these from out of state when CM went out of business because the tip of my original one from 2001 (!) broke – when it was used by someone who shall remain nameless (husband!) to unscrew something. I was afraid to be without one forever. Only $6 with Heritage Makers, whoo hoo!
Logos for Anthology consultants to use; you’ll be seeing these on my blog and social media soon :) They’re so cute. And now the recent redesign of Lisa’s blog makes TOTAL sense! Ohhhhh …..
Well, clearly I should’ve broken this up into about 20 entries because it’s so ding-dang long! Oh well. I want all the information in one place so there ya’ go, ha!
IN SUMMARY (Jeez, finally!)
If you want to join my team (Lisa’s team), the best thing to do is e-mail me. I’ll put you on my mailing list and send you information and links so you can learn more. I want you to feel totally comfortable, whether you’re spending $10 or $500. You can get off the mailing list at any time; just let me know. I’m happy to answer questions 24/7. You can call me, too :) Just leave a voice mail and I’ll call you back.

Sorry again for the super duper long post – but you know how I am ;) Hope to hear from you soon!
In early February 2015, I attended a very fun scrapbooking event called “Play All Day” put on by Shelby at Embellish IT! Inc. I wanted to give you a review and share my day :)
BACKGROUND
I’ve shopped at Embellish It over the years for scrapbook supplies. They carry a lot of products from 2 of my favorite brands: Basic Grey and Simple Stories, and lots of others, too. But the best thing they have are packs of Bazzill cardstock with colors selected to match specific scrapbook product lines. It’s pretty dang cool, especially for Bazzill snob like myself :P
. . . coordinates with THIS line, Carta Bella “Hello Again”
So, I’m on the mailing list for Embellish It and have heard about their “Play All Day” events for years – always wanted to go. I decided to finally pull the trigger when I saw an event that was only 3 hours from me (yes, I live in the boonies; NOTHING is held close by) and it was close to my mom’s birthday. She’s also a scrapbooker so I thought it would be a fun way to celebrate.
Wait! Was this one of those “Oh, look what I got you (for me)!” type of gifts? Hmmm… Anyhoo, we signed up with an Early Bird coupon code that saved us $9 off the $79 price, made our hotel reservation with a special rate at the event hotel ($99 at a Sheraton), . . . and had to wait for several months, LOL. But, yes, the day finally did arrive!
THE PLAN
A few days prior to the event, we got an e-mail detailing the day:
*9am – midnight*
This will be a FUN day of scrapbooking & we will keep things low key.
* The event will officially end at 9pm BUT we have the room reserved until
midnight. Those who wish to continue scrapping are welcome to do so at *no
additional cost*
*The schedule for the day will be:*
*9am- Doors open *(i always try to open the door a little early but it is
all dependent on the hotel)
*11-1: Class #1 Layouts* – 2 double-page layouts
*1pm: Italian Buffet Lunch*
*3-5pm: Class #2 Cards* – 8 cards w/embellishments
I was excited about the layout class since scrappin’ is what I do (as opposed to project classes like banners, home dec, etc. that I’m not as interested in). I’m not a cardmaker so that was ‘meh’ but I figured I could make my mom’s birthday card, LOL!
THE BIG DAY
On the day of the event, I woke up at 4:45am (so excited! couldn’t sleep!), left the house at 6:30 in pouring rain, got there around 9:30am, got unloaded and unpacked, changed into dry clothes, and met my mom in the event room by 10:30. So I was bummed to miss out on that 1 1/2 to 2 hours of scrapping time before the first class but oh well. My mom had already met and been chatting with the nice ladies at our table for 4 and the ones at the next table, who were all friends.
Okay, I’m going to confess right now that I don’t have any photos to share of the day. I did have my phone aka my BFF. I guess I just felt awkward taking pics in that close of an environment with a roomful of people I didn’t know. Sorry! I’ll do such a good job of providing vivid descriptions with my words that you won’t miss the photos, LOL.
Back to the event . . .
CROP SPACE
It was basically a ballroom or huge conference room and it was pretty full. Regarding the tables, I don’t know the measurements but there was plenty of room to scrap for the day, complete the class layouts, etc. If I were at a retreat, I’d probably want a little more room but it was fine for Play All Day.
SHOPPING AT THE EVENT
At the front of the event room, there were tables with lots of collection kits, Bazzill packs (!), page kits, mini album kits, card kits, etc. I didn’t have time to shop before the first class began at 11:00 but was able to later. That was actually by design because I didn’t bring any paper to scrap with, knowing that Shelby would have plenty of paper for sale. I bought 2 collection kits and a Bazzill kit.
WHAT I PACKED
This was the lightest I’d traveled to a scrapbooking event in quite a while! Only 2 bags and here is what I brought:
– Tool kit in flat pack with adhesives, photo cleaning cloth, erasers, Undu, etc.
– Tool tote with pens, scissors, stapler, and other tools
– Photos, about 15 from 3 events. I had just printed them the morning of the event, of course, ha!
– Paper trimmer, my trusty old Cutterpede that I’ve had for years (that’s why she’s not that pretty but I love her!).
Things I always keep in my crop bag:
– Ott lite & extension cord
– Extra blade and cutting pad for Cutterpede
THE FOOD
The Italian buffet lunch was delish. Iced tea and coffee were provided throughout the event (although the hot coffee ran out and wasn’t replaced in the evening, when I really needed it, lol). We just ate snacks the rest of the time. I was there to scrap, baby!
SHOPPING NOT AT THE EVENT
I wrote a post about my little shopping adventure HERE.
CLASSES & PRODUCT
Remember how I said I was kinda’ ‘meh’ about doing the card class? Well, I lucked out. Majorly. It turned out that Shelby had just received new kits to do a Simple Stories “Life Documented” mini album or planner. So she offered us the option to do that instead of the card kit and most of us took her up on that. Duh. The value was crazy. The entire event cost $70 and that Simple Stories kit had probably $50 worth of product in it.
There was also the layout class and I enjoyed both of them. Shelby walked around the room, gave instructions and encouragement, but it was pretty relaxed. There were great instructions you could follow at your own pace, too. I’ve been to some classes that are so stressful that they’re not even fun but this wasn’t like that.
THE HOSTESS
Shelby is a dynamo. She had the loud voice needed to keep us rowdy scrappers in line (ha), was very upbeat and fun over the course of a long day, was organized, and what I loved most – very open and flexible. She asked several times what WE wanted to do (when to eat, the room temp, okay to substitute the planner project for the cards, etc.). I also chatted with her one-on-one and found her lovely. We had some “mom talk” and it was nice. Speaking of which, she had the cutest helper EVER, her little blondie cutie pie son. What a great sport he was!
SUMMARY
I’d give it 10/10 stars. I can’t think of anything that went wrong or that I didn’t like. I mean it was over a month ago and I’m old so there’s a possibility I forgot something but, no, I don’t think so. I’m not THAT old! If you get the chance to attend a Play All Day event, I recommend it!
ETA 04-12-15: Miss Shelby stopped by to say hi. Check out the Comments!
I first heard about this a couple of weeks ago from my dear scrapbook friend, MISS ANGIE.
Who heard from the manager of her Tuesday Morning store that they had a new buyer who is a CRAFTER and that we could expect their crafting section to expand. She was said to be tenacious and was seeking out new suppliers of crafting supplies.
And we rejoiced.
To confirm that the rumor seems to be true, lookie what just landed in my inbox:
BLADOW!
And the scrappers all over America who live in smaller areas and have no LSS, Joann, or Hobby Lobby and not only just a Michaels but a small, slow-to-get-new-stuff Mike’s DID A HAPPY DANCE to hear this news.
Yes, they did. {Can you see me dancing from there? I’m doing the Cabbage Patch, a little bit o’ Running Man, oh no, now I’m booty poppin’ and twerking . . . join me, won’t you?}
I’ll keep my fingers crossed that “crafts” includes a lot of “scrapbooking”. From recent Tuesday Morning scouting reports I’ve read online, the scrapbook offerings lately have been pretty dang awesome – newer lines for great prices.
If you’re happy about this as well, PLEASE find Tuesday Morning on your choice of social media and thank them – I’m off to Tweet them myself. Let’s show them what a nice little band of shoppers we are and what a good move this was (wink wink).
HERE is a new special issue from Papercrafts Scrapbooking I thought you might be interested in:
What caught my interest – and you’ll only remember this if you’re a long-time scrapbooker – is that I wondered if it was anything like my favorite scrapbooking idea book of all time: “EASY PATTERNS FOR SCRAPBOOKING”.
Yes, the date on that blog entry is April 2007!
I’ve used that book SO many times over the years, it’s the only one I’ve actually worn out. The idea goes along with my favorite online scrapbook class ever, “THE PERFECT COLLECTION” by Shimelle Laine. The basic idea of both is starting with a fixed set or collection of papers and cardstock, then cutting them according to patterns before assembling your pages.
I have such a hard time these days paying $15 for idea books that are essentially the thickness of what $6 scrapbooking magazines used to be. I mean, I get it. They don’t have as many ads, the industry is not great right now and they have make money, etc. But it’s still hard, LOL! Especially not knowing what exactly it entails. Here’s the description:
Save time, money, and effort using these fun formulas with an economical array of supplies. Starting with supply lists, cutting diagrams and sketches, you’ll see how to create layouts, cards, tags and even a gift bag with just a few sheets of cardstock, some embellishments, and a fiber or two. You’ll find tips to “step up” the patterns by adding a tool, stamp set, or technique, plus examples that show the versatility of each one no matter what theme, age or gender interests you. Jump into this clever and practical way to use patterns in your paper crafting today!
I also wish it was JUST scrapbooking and not papercrafts, cards, etc. {Hey, did fibers come back and I didn’t get the memo?!?! Shooks, I gave all of mine away}.
I figured, well, I’ll just get the DIGITAL ISSUE. Well, uh, NO! It’s the same price – $15. Sheesh. I don’t pay hardcover price for a Kindle book and I’m not paying hard copy magazine price for a digital version either. Oh well.
If anyone gets this idea book:
1. Come give us a review or link to one on your blog, please!
2. Can I buy it from ya’ when you’re done? Heh heh.
And my scrappy heart starts to pitter-patter and, okay, well, race a little bit, if you must know.
I’m wondering if I’ve stumbled upon another portable photo printer to add to the Scrapbooker’s Master Printer List!??!
Note: As we know, I can be verbose. But this is a Gold Box Deal for a limited time so feel free to skip all the verbage and go snag you a $249 printer for only $149 before it’s gone (ETA 04-22-14: Make that $120 OMG!). Don’t let me stop you from saving $100. What am I, Cruella de Vil? No, no . . . no hurt feelings on my part. You gotta’ get your shop on. I get it. Truly, I do. {Here’s the LINK again}.
Another ETA 04-22-14: Well, dang, only 2 hours left! I’ve never bought a Gold Box deal before, didn’t understand how they work. I guess it’s for even less than 1 day, LOL. There’s a ticker on the Deals page and it says 2 hours left with 11% claimed. Oh well, sorry, not much notice. But still wondering if anyone has this printer and what they think of it.
So, we already know the 2 most popular portable photo printers for our types {i.e., the Scrapbook Obsessed} . . .
#2 The Epson PictureMate Charm {which is on a screamin’ deal right now for $167.50 (reg. $199) with free shipping}
They each have their upsides and downsides and, as far as I can tell, scrapbookers who like to print photos at home {especially for PROJECT LIFE} are about evenly divided in their Selphy vs Charm love <3
But could this be a new scrapbooker's printer to join the contest? Here are the features that caught my eye:
- Light, small, compact - great for taking to crops or on vacay
- Excellent reviews for photo quality
- Prints photos (and, say, journaling or a copy of that map you scanned from Disneyland?) up to 8.5 x 11
- Prints wirelessly from phone, camera, and computers (Mac and PC) using add-on Bluetooth adapter
- Can print multiple photos per page
It's all sounding pretty good to me so far! My old EPSON PICTUREMATE is still chuggin’ along so I really don’t neeeeeeddd a new photo printer. But if I did, I’d sure be checking this one out!
What do you think of it? If anyone has this printer, please share a review with us!

As I talked about in THIS post, I was lucky enough to find an AWESOME scrapbook store while in Arizona recently. {If you haven’t read that post yet, ya’ gotta’ if you want a laugh}.
Now it’s time to show you the haul from my trip to Scrapbooks Etc. in Mesa, Arizona.
Here’s the bag of pretties I brought home :) Note: If you click on any of the photos below, they will enlarge.
So, I took the photos, downloaded and edited them, then realized I forgot to include the Kaisercraft cards in this photo. So pretend they’re there, mmm kay? The budget I’d set for myself was $30 and you can see that I went over that just a teensy bit. Wonderful restraint though, if I do say so myself!!
They had a sale going: Buy 10 sheets of $1 paper and get the 11th free. Well, it was my duty to buy 10 sheets of paper, right?? Right.
First, 5 sheets of October Afternoon “Daily Flash”. I officially love and, yes, want to marry that sheet on top with the distressed teal stripes. Well, it would be a plural marriage because I need the bokeh paper in my life always as well.
Here are the backs of those same OA papers:
Here’s 1 sheet of American Crafts “Daydreamer” from Dear Lizzy. Don’t worry; I’m not going to say AGAIN how much I love hearts. Because you already know I love hearts. I say I love hearts ALLLL the time. I mean, why do you need to hear again how much I love hearts?!?! You really don’t <3 <3 <3
Next are 5 sheets of Basic Grey “Capture”. My favorite (OBVI!) is the turquoise on one side and turquoise/green on the other. I don’t like being faced with Sophie’s Choice, so I just bought 3 sheets of it – 2 to use for a turquoise background on a 2-pager and 1 to use the striped side.
Here’s the other side of the BG papers. Oh look, those stripes again!
So there are my “buy 10 get 1 free” sheets of $1 scrapbook paper :)
Here’s all the cards spread out and where you can see both sides:
Are they not lovely!?!? I adore this color scheme. I do a lot of beach pocket page scrapping and these will be perfect-a-mundo!
The flowery bits are not my favorite but, ya know, every card has 2 sides, LOL. I love everything else about these cards. The distressed teals and beiges, sayings, and other designs with banners, dots, chevrons, etc.
I also got 5 sheets of Echo Park “Fun In The Sun” – bright, cheerful pastels, bikes, cameras, trees, and flowers. These were only 49 cents a sheet; I think I found them on the bargain table I mentioned in my last post.
Here are the other sides of the Echo Park papers. This will be a great line to use for Project Life pages.
The only garage sale item I left the store with: a pack of paper for only 5 buckaroonies! It came with 37 cardstock-weight sheets of paper. I don’t love all of them and there are lots of duplicates but, at a mere 13 cents per sheet, I’m not complaining :)
Here are the backs of the same papers above.
I batched together my 3 favorite sets. I don’t know who makes these but they look lovely together and I like the mix of patterns and color. Very useable, don’t you think?
These papers aren’t labeled either but they’re great for Halloween layouts.
My absolute faves and why I bought the pack: These papers from the Teresa Collins “Memories” line. Such fresh colors and designs. The paper is very heavy and also textured. I imagine these must retail for AT LEAST $1 per sheet and since I got 5 sheets, there’s the $5 I spent on the whole pack. The rest of the papers are just scrapbook gravy :)
At $10, that took a big chunk of my budget but totally worth it. I *had* to have the wood veneer 3×4 and 4×6 cards plus the whole set is just so stinkin’ pretty.
Then I got the 2 little bags (they were sold seperately but look like Allison Kreft?) and the Doodlebug coffee stickers. ‘Cuz I might, um, be a little addicted to coffee. And take photos of it. And scrapbook them. Just maybe.
Well, there ya’ go . . . my shopping haul from Scrapbooks Etc. Hope you enjoyed!
PS: I did hit up one other store while in Arizona. I’m not gonna’ pretend it was as awesome as this store but I did manage (ahem) to find some more scrappy goodies. Stay tuned for another store review and scrapbook haul!
I used to keep my washi tape collection {which is, ahem, extensive} in an open tray on my desk with all my Project Life stuff. But it gets very dry and dusty here so I had to give up the open tray idea. I found other storage for my PROJECT LIFE CARDS and EMBELLISHMENTS. Everything has a new home except for washi tape.
When I went to a SCRAPBOOK RETREAT in January, I put all my tapes in a plastic shoebox – you can kinda’ see them on the far right in this photo from the retreat:
But I wasn’t happy with it for the long-term. So I was in TARGET one day and decided to look around for possibilities for storing washi tape. Here is what I found:
These fridge and freezer storage containers could work. They’re a little pricey but I like that they’re clear. You can see what you have and the pretty colors from all that gorgeous tape are visible.
I was excited to find these short tension rods because I’d seen an idea using them on PINTEREST. I had them in my cart, then ended up putting them back. It occurred to me that I’d end up being annoyed at having to pull a bunch of rolls off the rods to get to the color I wanted – or in needing to keep them on the rod and tear the tape off while it stayed on the rod. Either way, I wouldn’t like it.
These “Bento” containers by Rubbermaid are super cute. I love how the compartments pop out and you can really personalize it. The containers come in multiple sizes. I ended up veto’ing this too because 1. I don’t do well at keeping cloth things clean, and 2. It seemed too deep.
Are these little chipboard suitcases the kee-YOU-test?!?! Could totally see these for my washi tape storage. Great price, too. Only downside is they’re not see-through and I’m a “see it or forget to use it” kinda’ girl.
Now these trays, I really thought about for a while. The color is bland but that’s okay – washi tape is not, LOL! I could picture my pretty rows of colorful tape all lined up in ROYGBIV order in one of these babies. They’d be in a single layer, easy to see, and easy to access. The downsides were the larger footprint {I don’t have much desk real estate left} and being open to dust. Oh well, neat idea.
Thinking about closed storage, I checked out all these jars in the kitchen section. I didn’t pull the trigger on anything but there were some cute and affordable options there.
Oh well, back to the drawing board! I’ll check out Michaels next and I’m sure I’ll find some cool washi tape storage there :)
So now that I’ve done the INTRO POST, today I want to say, “CHA: Day One”.
But.
There was only
one day
for me.
Sooooo . . . “CHA: First Part of THE Day.” See? Doesn’t sound as impressive. Oh well. Here we go.
On CHA Day, I woke up at 3:30am. It was like I was 8 and it was Christmas morning. I did need to get up early but that was RUH-DIK. I left my house at 5:20, prepped with a full tank of gas and a large coffee. There were some very good omens that signaled a great day. When I turned my car on in the morning, the radio was playing the beginning of a Journey song. Dude. So awesome. {If you’re new here, I’m obsessed with JOURNEY}. And I got to watch the sun rise over Santa Barbara.
Later, as I drove through Hollywood, on the other side of the freeway there was a cascade of bougainvillea hanging over the tall cement wall, like these.
And they were in a heart shape :) {I’m so obsessed with HEARTS, they also have their own Pinterest board}.
Yeah, I felt like it was going to be a very good day indeed.
I arrived in Anaheim around 9:30. The convention center is right by Disneyland and normally I would’ve been SO sad that I couldn’t join all the people going there. But, hey, I was going to Scrapbooking Disneyland and that’s even better! I was so excited that I totally forgot which direction the parking lot lady said to go so I went straight and it all worked out. Phew! After parking (again, still so excited I forgot to note which section I was in = regret later), I asked the guy entering the stairwell before me, “Which way do we go, up or down?” and he said, “I always just follow the light so that means up.” I thought that was a good match for my feelings of the day: I was going toward the light. {The sound of angels singing}. I was about to enter scrappy heaven!
The conference center lobby is huge so I just followed people who looked like craftsy types, LOL. Lots of people had brought rolling tote bags, which is wicked smart. I only had my purse and, like a dummy, I had even downsized it so it would be lighter. {I would later regret this, too}. I checked in which you don’t even have to talk to a real person for! The week before CHA, they e-mail you a QR entry code and, using the CHA app, you just hold it up to the machine. I got my badge, checked out the big board, loving how everything was so bright and cheerful and the scene was buzzing!
Note: I’m apologizing now. Most of my photos were taken with my iPhone because I was having camera problems. The photo quality is not great; I realize that and I’m sorry! But like I said in my LAST ENTRY, there are TONS of great CHA photos and videos online. My goal is to share photos that illustrate my day and so I can reference scrapbook products I’m commenting on. I hope that’s not too much of a bummer!
I stopped to take a few pics as I walked into CHA for the very first (and hopefully not last) time! And who was there, front and center??? MARTHA, of course! It’s always Martha, Martha, Martha!
First, I decided to take a cruise around and get the lay of the land, and note the booths I wanted to go back to.
Okay, I’m going to stop photos here for now. As you can see, the place is massive. All these scrapbooking companies are interspersed with other crafts – beads, sewing, yarn, paints, etc. You get a workout, that’s for sure! I made use of that charging station area because my iPhone died and, as I was counting on it to be my camera, that was NOT acceptable, LOL! There were plenty of food vendors right in the CHA area; I got a fruit cup for $5 but they had lots of good-looking hot food, too. I got an Aquafina from a vending machine for $2.50 (just giving you an idea of prices for when YOU go :). I was surprised that the Fancy Pants booth was so small but it was cute!
Okay, I’ll have more “quick look” photos next time, then we’ll start getting in depth with specific companies in the posts after that. Talk soon!

A sports season recently came to an end and, for being team mom, I was lucky enough to receive a beautiful card, a bottle of wine, and a Michaels $25 gift card. However did they know that I would enjoy a Mike’s spending spree!?!?
{Uh, maybe because I was the only obsessive picture taker all season who would drift away in the middle of conversations saying, “‘Scuse me I gotta’ get this shot …”}
So I drank the bottle of wine and went to Michaels.
JUST kidding! Sheesh. Give me a little credit. My Gawd.
.
.
.
I shopped first THEN drank the bottle of wine. Duh.
It was nice to go to Michaels for once when I wasn’t trying to pinch my pennies so hard they screamed for mercy. I felt kind of like the Real Housewife of Scrapbook County, leisurely strolling the aisles in my Jimmy Choos (okay, Reef flip-flops), carrying my Birkin bag (okay, Target $20 purse), with my long blonde straw-like hair extensions flowing behind me (okay, that part is true).
But I really did feel kinda’ reckless, like I could have a little bit of fun – instead of my usual M/O of finding one item to use my 40% coupon for and leaving within 5 minutes.
So here is my Michaels scrapbook haul – and despite being Real-Housewife-Rich, I did get some great deals anyway:
~~~~~~~~
GCD and Sticko alphas, both really cute for kid pages. Both styles were on sale for $1.49/pack.
I feel compelled to buy 2 of every alpha now because I’m so tired of running out of S, T, and vowels before I’m done with a pack.
~~~~~~~~
Okay, I admit I’m obsessed with these MAMBI pocket page cards. It’s only gotten worse since I wrote THIS POST. Many of my aforementioned “one item with a coupon” Mike’s trips have been to get these packs. But I’m done now. I officially have every single pack that I want. I think. Yeah. I’m pretty sure. Maybe.
NO REALLY. I’M DONE. FER SHURE. LIKE.
So they retail for $4.99 a pack. The sign said 50% off so I grabbed the remaining 3 packs I wanted to complete my ‘set’ for $7.50 instead of $15 … SCORE! However, when I got to the register and asked to make sure they rang up for $2.50 each, I was informed that what the sign ACTUALLY said was “Buy 1, get 1 50% off.” Uh der. Make that $12.50 total, oops. Oh well, I’m a Real Housewife, what do I care?
I thought about returning one and using a coupon on it later. But then I figured I’ll just keep it and not have to worry about remembering what pack I still need, etc. Done. See? I really mean it. {I think}.
~~~~~~~~~
Thickers chipboard alpha in a cute map print
I was able to ring these up separately with a 40% off coupon so they were $3.23. Here’s what’s funny. I noticed when I was taking the photo that they are in the totally wrong package! Did you catch that? Weird. Whatevs. That doesn’t make me love them any less.
~~~~~~~~~
To round up the scrappy portion of my haul …
Bazzill kraft cardstock – On sale for 47 cents a sheet x 10 sheets = $4.70. In retrospect, since I was Real Housewives rich, I should’ve gotten more. I lurve kraft cardstock. I used it a lot for my base pages. It’s like a good pair of jeans – it goes with everything.
Then from the home dec section, I got a yummy candle and cute vase with fake flowers for my home office/scrap room.
These blue-y greens are my absolute favorite colors and the bottle/vase is so “me”. Not in a Real Housewife sort of way but in my poor country girl kind of way. The flowers have bling in the center of each one but I may need to thin them out a bit, do you think? The candle is Ocean scented.
Vase $3.99 on sale
Candle $3.99 on sale
Flowers $6.99 minus 40% coupon = $4.19
~~~~~~~~~~
Grand total $48.10
Minus gift card $25.00
Total paid $30.10
I was on a shopping high for quite a while from this trip! And I’ve already volunteered to be Team Mom again next season ;)
What are your latest Michaels finds? Or if you’re brave enough to share, what did you spend on your last scrapbook haul? Really you can tell us! Real Housewives never tell …
If you don’t have 20 minutes free right now, just back away. Okay, I warned you!
As I’ve mentioned many times here over the years, I’m a member of the Two Peas in a Bucket message board community. I joined in April 2007 … wow, 6 years ago! At first I lurked, then began posting and have spent many a leisure hour chatting with other scrappers from all over the world.
Two Peas is an online store with a large stock of scrapbooking items. They’ve always been a very popular place to shop and I think part of that is because of all the extras they offer: Several message board forums (scrapbooking, NSBR, digital, photography, etc.), Garden Girls aka a design team, free and paid classes, free videos, and an amazing gallery.
I’ve really enjoyed my time there very much. Just talking about the General Scrappin’ (GS) board, it has always been pretty much a free-for-all about what topics you could post. I guess you were supposed to refer to Michaels as M’s and Joanns as J’s but everyone of course knew which stores you were talking about. Also talked about were: Kit clubs, other big box craft stores, Costco, Big Lots, Tuesday Morning, TJ Maxx, Ross, other online scrapbooking stores, direct sales companies (like the one I work for, MEMORY WORKS, along with CTMH, Stampin’ Up, Creative Memories, etc).
Not only were all these other sources of scrapbook supplies discussed, links were provided directly to them. Sales and good deals were discussed, new products, coupons, rewards, catalog promotions, kit releases, etc. As a person who markets scrapbook supplies myself, I have to admit it did surprise me that such a free environment was allowed by Two Peas. But whatevs. It’s their business and they can run it the way they see fit.
Over time, I came to see that it really was a pretty smart move. Two Peas had THE most active board with hundreds of thousands of members {aka Peas}. When you Google pretty much anything having to do with scrapbooking, Two Peas threads will be on page 1, leading a plethora of scrapbookers to the Two Peas store via the message board.
An active board with happy scrappers posting often – seemed like a great thing after all. Sure, some business was driven away by the links to other online and brick-and-mortar deals. But I personally feel like all the traffic and positivity and good will – and ENABLING! – was a good thing and a smart move for the Two Peas store overall. Maybe Two Peas own sales stats contradict that, I don’t know.
At various points, I think management has posted to remind the Peas of their TOU (terms of use), which DOES say that you’re not allowed to post links leading to other scrapbook stores, etc. You agree to the TOU when you sign up. The problem was – the TOU was either not enforced or enforced unevenly. It seemed to me that when the Peas didn’t follow the gentle TOU reminders, the board admins just kind of threw up their hands and decided that “anything goes” was okay.
So the reason I’m telling you all of this is that the TOU has been a major bone of contention lately, mainly because of THIS POST by the management. It really fanned some flames because the Peas felt it wasn’t clear and wasn’t fair. Also many thought that if this very strict TOU was enforced, there wouldn’t be much left to talk about, LOL.
Two Peas owns the site and it costs them money to maintain the message boards. They have a business they’re trying to keep going in an extremely difficult economy. It truly is their playground and their rules and I think everybody gets that. But many felt that in the weeks following that TOU announcement, some threads that violated TOU were pulled and others weren’t = unfair and confusing.
So the Peas were on edge. For many, this was kind of a “three strikes, you’re out” kind of thing. First, the message board NEW DESIGN debacle in Oct. 2012, then the CUSTOMER LOYALTY PROGRAM mix-up in Jan. 2013, and now this. A lot of Peas were sticking around to enjoy the forums and videos but vowed not to purchase from Two Peas any more. Oh, and add the frequent complaints about the high cost of shipping, LOL.
This is all just to try and put into perspective WHY the fit hit the shan so severely this week! Because now we have a new issue and I can’t share some of the threads with you because they’ve been deleted by Two Peas admins. Actually, I’m just going to quote a synopsis that was posted on a remaining thread (remember, this is just one person’s view of how it went down … we cannot see the actual threads to verify it as fact):
– a Pea did not receive free 6×6 pad with order, and was upset. Was not happy with 2Peas’ CS response. Started GS thread.
– other Peas agreed with OP. CS responded on thread and thread was locked.
– 6x6Pea started second thread, complaining about locked thread. Many Peas vocal about 2Peas’ response of locking thread. Several Peas very harsh and vocal about 2Peas’ CS response.
– vocal Peas on 2nd thread were placed under 24 hour ban — this includes [three Peas names; ultimately I think there were 5-6 Peas banned]).
– Peas (like me) noticed ban and asked about it and voiced disappointment in second thread.
– both threads deleted.
– third thread started saying “surprise, thread pulled” and it has now also been deleted.
Here was the response from Two Peas customer service that lays out what happened from their perspective:
Hi (customer’s name),
I’m glad I happen to come across this thread, otherwise there may have been a misunderstanding! I apologize that I had not made myself clear enough in my ticket response. I am the only customer care representative at Two Peas, and have been very busy the this week with everything we have going on currently, so I failed to take the time to mention some important details of your situation. The response I gave in your ticket was:
“I’m sorry you did not receive this free pad! This promotion was a while supplies lasted promotion, so it may have been that we had run out shortly after you placed your order. If you let me know when you place your next order, I can have a different free gift put inside for you. We apologize for any inconvenience!”
In this response, I fail to mention that the “While Supplies Last” promotions give the first X number of people who check out the free product. Sometimes this is not discovered until we pull the order, but in your case, our system had actually already run out of these before you placed your order. This is the reason as to why you would not have seen this free product automatically added to your cart, and it is also the reason it is not listed on either your pull ticket or receipt.
Because this style of promotion does not pertain to a specific window of time, we are unable to guarantee that everyone who sees an advertisement for this kind of promotion will place their order in time to receive the promotional product. Although your order did not have this product included, we would still be happy to give you free gift with your next order as a courtesy. We cannot, however, send out the original product separately as it was not supposed to be included in your order at the time you checked out.
Again, I sincerely apologize for my lack of a detailed explanation in this service ticket. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to respond in the same ticket thread. I hope this message helps make things more clear!
Matt
Customer Service Manager
Two Peas in a Bucket
And here’s another response from Two Peas in a later thread:
I am very sorry to hear you feel this way. We always aim to do what we can to make things right if you feel disappointed in your experience. I believe that is what Matt is trying to do for this customer, but we understand there are different perspectives and opinions here.
Matt was not asking this customer to place another order, but more offering to include a free gift should she decide to place one again. The intent in locking the thread was not to shut out the community, but simply to ensure his response would not be overlooked.
I do want to clear up the misunderstanding regarding “while supplies last” so that you are aware for in the future. We frequently offer gift-with-purchase promotions. The line “while supplies last” is added to all of our advertisements. We remove gift with purchase ads as soon as the gifts have run low. In the rare situation where this line is inadvertently left out, we are happy to correct our mistake if you feel misled.
Needless to say, those explanations didn’t go over too well with the majority of Peas that posted to these (now deleted) threads. While some did defend Two Peas, others seemed to feel varying degrees of … the promotion was unclear, the customer shouldn’t have to place another order and pay shipping again to receive an item she should’ve received the first time (or if nothing else, a like item shipped to her free now for a small overall cost to the company), that the 2 explanations contradicted each other, and/or they would be taking their business elsewhere from now on.
When the first thread was locked (you could read it but no one could post to it after Matt’s explanation) meaning it would eventually “fall to the bottom” and fewer and fewer people would see it, some Peas got madder. Other threads were started questioning Two Peas actions, the first and second threads were deleted, and then several users who had made negative comments toward Two Peas got a 24-hour ban. In all my 6 years there, this was something I had never seen.
If you look at any thread these users have posted on, you see this in place of their post:
(User Name) This user is under a 24 hour ban. Show/Hide
The post is not deleted but basically minimized. If you click Show/Hide, it will appear. So then THAT ticked people off even more! Some Peas felt like they were not allowed to question Two Peas’ actions or make criticisms.
The good will there today was overflowing, I tell ya’! Within another thread (3rd or 4th, I’ve lost track), it’s pointed out that on page 1 of the GS forum at the time were at least 10 threads that violated TOU, yet those users were not warned or banned nor were the threads deleted like we’d been informed they would be with the TOU reminder. However, Peas who questioned customer service were banned?
As I’m writing this, the threads “So TPTB [the powers that be] are Banning Peas Now? (thread #3? on GS) and “So what is the drama on the G.S. board about?” (thread #4? on NSBR) have been pulled. And Two Peas has posted this:
{Holy Snikeys, this has got to be the longest entry I’ve ever written!}
WE CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH
Hi everyone.
I’m generally a very up-beat person and try to see everything in a positive light. My experience and upbringing have caused me to believe in the common good of people, that the majority of people, in the absence of outside influences, have good intentions. That belief continually leaves me grossly unprepared when situations like this become such a spectacle.
The internet and, indeed, our message boards make it amazingly easy to tear a person, a principle or a company to pieces. It provides a single person a captive audience upon which accusations and insinuations can be carelessly cast without the worry of consequence or the bother of such (silly) notions as truth or intention. What’s worst about this is not the damage they can cause, but that they are self-sustaining. They garner support by manipulation of the truth and in controlled presentation of select pieces of the story; perpetually fueled by their own determination to be heard. This continues not for lack of an opponent willing to fight, but because the futility of attempting a rational discussion. A person with time for one hour of discussion can not hope to be louder or more rationally understood in the face of a person with nothing but time and an unrestricted forum in which to speak.
This board is not your forum for free speech. I am not a governmental body and have zero compulsion to blindly allow anyone to say anything they want. I’m a nerdy American that wanted to start a company with his wife that focused on scrapbooking. I like that I give people a place and a technology where they can communicate about scrapbooking. I love that we’ve been fortunate enough to be able to employ family and friends and provide them with an income to support their families. I’m awed when I hear stories of some of the friendships that have been found, forged and persisted through Two Peas. But why should I be at all supportive of the people that would use the very platform I provide to market against me?
I’m an adult and I quietly deal with a lot of things that are slung my way. But I can not stand by and let a person rip apart someone on my staff that works tirelessly on behalf of our customers. Matt is one of the most dedicated and customer-savvy people I have ever had the pleasure to work with. He handles impossible situations and incredibly vocal people on a daily basis and always works to find fair and equitable solutions to problems. Customer service is precarious place between the wants and needs of customer and company alike and handles it amazingly.
Here’s the deal. We, and thousands of other companies in the world, send out emails all the time when we have something special to offer. Once the email is sent, the data it provides can not be updated and it is usually limited in space, from a practical stand point. So the intention, and general understanding, is that you’ll find out more details when you click through. When we are able to execute a joint promotion with a vendor or manufacturer, such as giving away something free with an order, there’s ALWAYS a limited supply of that product. This is not some new concept. So I built our give-away system to only display that offer in the cart while those supplies last (in fact, it stops prior to every unit being accounted for). Once those supplies have run out, the offer isn’t even displayed any more. And if it’s not displayed in the order when you place it, there really shouldn’t be any expectation that there is something beyond the order itself.
That is what happened with the particular order that started this discussion. The offer was over due to a fantastic response. The order was placed and no additional product was offered in the order. Therefore, there was no free paper pad on the pull ticket when the order printed in the warehouse. So no one that had anything to do with the order would have thought “we should really throw a paper pad in this order.”
Despite that fact, when the customer called/emailed to complain about the missing paper pad, Matt made the gesture to give her a similar product for free in a future order. Not to correct an error, not out of obligation and not because he was trying to bait her into future purchases, but because he wanted to try and find a resolution to a problem based solely on perception. I actually thought it was very nice of him to offer an inventory item we had to pay for to replace a free promotional item that was not even part of the order placed.
Back to the boards. The locking and banning doesn’t occur because we’re trying to “sweep things under the rug.” We’ve got nothing to hide. And if the comments were exclusively factual and from people that were directly involved, I actually wouldn’t touch them. I have no problem stepping up and accepting blame where it’s deserved. But the facts, all to often, become buried and out-right ignored as threads get longer. People start to pull things out of the woodwork on all manner of subjects that have no relevance to the actual issue at hand.
I, or anyone on my staff or working on our behalf, lock threads when the discussion is no longer constructive, or if the “facts” are so askew that we feel it needs to stop. Sometimes it’s done with a final word from us and other times it’s not.
The temporary bans occurred because I will not tolerate the hazing or ridicule of my staff when I think its unjustly delivered or completely unfounded. Some of the things said are libelous and the repeated scandalmongering will be met with an ever-increasing degree of resistance. I can only assume you have the very worst of intentions if you continue to participate in a service I provide only to make character assassinations about my staff and misrepresentations about the services we offer and strive to improve.
I think that we offer a lot and ask for very little in return. The forums, gallery, videos, inspiration, products and orders are all made possible by a very small set of people that, like most others, continually seek the approval and pleasure of others. If what we offer does not suit your needs, I understand that we can not be all things to all people and I hope you can find what you’re looking for elsewhere. I simply ask that you respect the people behind the work and refrain from defamation of their character if something doesn’t please you.
We will continue our endeavor to provide a unique and positive environment for scrapbookers, family and friends. We hope you’ll continue to let us know ways in which we can improve that experience and we assure you it won’t fall on deaf ears.
I know this writing does not speak enough to our massive amount of supporters out there, but I thank you–eternally–for the faith and trust you put in us to provide you with supplies and inspiration. We wholeheartedly appreciate everything you do for us and we hope to continue improving our menu of products and services. THANK YOU.
In closing, I’m not sure that I’ve conveyed an appropriate quantity of “answers” nor aptly resolved any outstanding issues. However, I invite you to contact me directly with any problems or concerns you have. I can’t promise I have an answer for everything, but I’m a good listener and I’d be happy to hear how we can help make your experience at Two Peas a better one.
Very sincerely,
Jeffrey
So I don’t suppose there is still anyone here reading, is there? Shizzle, that’s a lot of verbage to wade through! I’m not opinion-atin’ here. I’m just laying out what happened today to the best of my research/recollection. PLEASE correct me if I have any of it wrong. And leave your comments below. What do you think? Or like Andy says on “Watch What Happens Live!”, whose side are you on?
I can’t believe all this happened at the Pod today. And how was your day??? :P
PS: I saved the links to the first 2 threads. At various times tonight, they have either worked or haven’t. I’ll post them here just in case you get lucky, lol.
Lain Ehmann over at Layout a Day.com just announced her next FREE SCRAPINAR for October and I think you’re going to love it!
Hmmm … You know that little voice in your head that talks to you but no one else can hear … yet *I* know what it’s saying right now? It’s saying, “What in Blue Cherry Hill is a ‘scrapinar’???” And since I heard your little voice alllll the way from here, I’m going to answer: A scrapinar is an online event where everyone meets up at the same bat time on the same bat channel (e.g., same website – which will be provided to you when you sign up). Lain speaks to us live, then she introduces a pre-recorded mini-scrapbook class or seminar. While all of us “students” are listening to Lain and watching the video, in another box on our computer screen, we are having an ongoing “live” (real time) chat with Lain and each other about the topic. We ask questions, make comments, share our own ideas, make jokes, whatever.
And the beauty part is that if you get interrupted or miss it altogether, you will have a certain window of time AFTER the scrapinar to log in, watch Lain, watch the video, and read the chat transcript. Lain also shares any links, worksheets, etc. that were discussed during the scrapinar. BUT – aint’t there always a but? – you MUST register before the event to have access to it afterward (i.e., you can’t see if after the fact if you didn’t sign up to attend originally). You don’t need Skype or anything. Lain sends you instructions on how to access the “classroom” and they’re really super easy. Hey, I’m about the biggest techno-boob out there and I managed to figure it out. Just sayin’ …
The REAL beauty part is … this is all FREE if you can flippin’ believe it! I know, right?
So here are the Top 5 Reasons You Should Sign Up:
1. On Tuesday, 10/02/12, she is having Jennifer Woodbury, a creative team member for Becky Higgins’ Project Life! She will share “Project Life Step-by-Step.”
2. As soon as you sign up, you’ll be offered a special deal that you can only get by signing up for this particular scrapinar. {Hint: It involves Becky Higgins, it’s a great deal, and you won’t want to miss it}.
3. If you already love Lain, you get to spend more time with her. And if you’ve never “met” Lain, what are you waiting for guuurrrrll? She’s fun, upbeat, and always hooks us scrappers up with cool stuff.
4. The October scrapinar uses the same “live chat” and video technology that Lain uses for the TRUE SCRAP events. So this is the perfect test drive to see how it works, get any bugs out, etc. before True Scrap later in October*
5. Um, *I* will be there! DUH!
*TRUE SCRAP 4 is an amazing 2-day, all-inclusive, online scrapbooking event taking place October 21-22, 2012. You get:
Inspiration and Education from 15 A-list instructors…
Five virtual project make-and-takes…
Pre-Event PJ Party…
Virtual goodie bag…
All for one low price…
I’ll be attending a True Scrap event for the first time. You can probably tell how excited I am because I keep blogging about it, LOL. I just think it’s a super cool thing and I wish I would’ve found True Scrap earlier. The class I took from True Scrap 3 was the best of ANY online scrapbooking classes I’ve ever taken, and that’s what brought TS4 to my full attention. Please think about joining me. Srsly.
I also hope to see you at the free October scrapinar. Do you think you’ll attend either event?
I just wanted to quickly update THIS POST about the kit I got such a great deal on from ELLE’s STUDIO.
I ordered it Wednesday 9/12/12.
I got a shipping notice Thursday 9/13/12.
It arrived Monday 9/17/12.
5 days. BLADOW!!
It was packaged beautifully, wrapped in colored tissue, and secured in a paper bag with a sticker closure. In addition to all the kit contents (adorable, btw!), there was the invoice signed by Elle, a free journaling card, and a “Refer a Friend” card.
Well, you are my friend so I’m referring you! Here’s what it says:
Refer*A*Friend!
Refer your friends all September and October long {thru 10-31-12}! When they make a purchase at our website and mention your email address in the “Customer Notes” during checkout, we’ll send you a $5 gift certificate code that you can use on your next order!
So if you do end up buying from ELLE’s STUDIO, feel free to enter my e-mail in the Customer Notes at checkout: scrapbookobsession(at)gmail(dot)com. If not, no worries! Either way, I wholeheartedly recommend shopping at Elle’s Studio. It’s a classy site and I like how they do business :)
Okay, you NEED to sign up for the mailing list at ELLE’s STUDIO! That’s a fact.
I just got another steal from there. I got the “Here and Now” $30 kit from THIS post … for $12. Yep, TWELVE DOLLARS.
… it features 7 12 x 12 patterned papers, 4 12 x 12 sheets of colored cardstock, a transparency, alphas and stickers, a cute bag and a ton of Elle’s Studio goodies! 15 exclusive tags from us, that match and coordinate with all the kits contents. There is also an Elle’s Studio stamp and a set of 4 badges …
Even with the $8 shipping, I’m still getting all this goodness for $20.
The one below it in that blog entry, “Everyday Moments”, is on the same sale, along with all the retiring Elle’s Studio tags and a few other things. But their items go fast so get to shoppin’, lady!
I’m not going to just share the discount code because that wouldn’t be nice. Please go HERE and sign up for Elle’s e-mail newsletter to get it. I mean, 60% off??? You’d be crazy NOT to, am I right?
This is the second major sale I’ve gotten in on since I signed up for the newsletter. Last time I got a bunch of journaling tags for next to nuthin’. And they don’t bombard you with e-mails … they’re pretty infrequent.
As I talked about HERE, a wonderful online scrapbooking event ~ TRUE SCRAP 4 ~ is now open for registration!!
I was on the Pre-Sale e-mail list so I was able to register a couple of days ago. Now registration is open for all, so get your cute bottom over there and join me, wouldya’?
Just CLICK HERE to learn about about “True Scrap 4” and then register. {You can also get there by clicking on the cute little superhero True Scrap logo above ^^^ or on the upper right of my blog}. Let me know if you have any questions, and I’ll get them answered :)
In addition to all the amazing classes, there will be a message board, pajama party, prizes, and other cool stuff.
